Still think that name " Stang Ray" is cheesy. Sorry, Doc! If the Stingray nameplate was a copyrite infringement issue or breach to existing trademark laws, then the Delta 88, Carman Ghia, and Z28, and maybe even Mazerati are all subject to the same scrutiny unless those names are specifically NOT covered by copyrite by General Motors, VW -AG, or the Italian sports car company bearing that name. Unless I missed something in the depostion of complaint!

Z said it was a professional courtesy to change the name. I decided that i don't look at the amp when I'm playing so it's irrelevant to me! I just groove on the tone.

Depends on how easy it is for you to be confused I suppose...

There's no issue on the tone. None. Zero. And the relevance of what it says on a nameplate can always be questioned as well. What I'm getting to is " Stingray" as a fish or a car or an amp is a credible sounding name. "Stang" ray?
Another question. Doc changed the name as a courtesy to whom? GM? Music man/Ernie Ball?
If it's GM, then we are going to quite quickly have the "Delco 88" instead of the Delta 88 ( whoops, that won't work. Delco is GM's electronics division and remember Peavey has an amp called the Delta Blues or something like that. ) Out of courtesy to the Dept. of Transportation and Highways, I suppose it should be the "Root 66"!
And just so the Italian don't kick up a fuss, how about the Mass Senior? ( sounds like a Priest named that one) The Mass junior would be like an Alter boy I suppose.
Just havin' fun here guys!

You know what I like about the 'ray? First it has a name that causes a minor controversy, which results in a short build. Then it has a name that never makes it on to a panel anywhere (that we know of). Then it gets another name that could be called controversial for a different reason. Man that's the stuff that they completely dig on Antiques Roadshow - those big long stories just add character and value to an item. And I think it has already done that for the 'ray. But the coolest part of the entire story is that the amp is one of the most amazing amps that has come along in a while. World class in every way. You know, there are some Fender Jaguars that have stories, but at the end of the story, it's still just a Jaguar. But the 'ray - Oh - My - GAWD! That's the way a great story is supposed to turn out!

I kinda like the ol' southern drawl that BP stuck on the amp. Regardless, it could be named "Dang Ray", it is one bad arse sounding amp. I can't wait for mine to show

We are all individuals that like different things. Remember the movie you loved that the critics hated? Reviewers are only human and not only do they dress differently then you but they may actually not like something you or I might love (like a Stangray). Pearls before swine I say! Oh yeah, and as for me the louder the better, Rock and roll!
