Amp arrived today.
Not alot of time to mess with it, I did however do what some say can;t be done...to paraphrase jerry reed.
I played it for a while as delivered stock JJ'z
Took those out and put in a set of NOS RCA Grey Plate 6V6GT.
plate is somewhere in the area of 405. I figured old DR were higher than that..
No sign of redplating or any other weirdness.
Made a major difference in the amps response...super alive, sparkle, punch, smoooth OD...to me the orig. JJ 6L6GC sound lifeless
compared to the RCA 6V6GT..
I suppose I should get a set of JJ6V6 but these rca's sound killer.
Thats all for now, have not had enough time with the amp to even begin to figure out what it can do...but I like the the V6's alot.
I will play it over the weekend and see how it goes...see if the tubes holdup...
The Beat Goes On.
