I've got the Celestion Alnico Cream in mine and I wish it had a bit more top end and a bit less compression. Any suggestions? I really like it playing clean, but gained up, for me, I feel like I get lost in the mix. Have been playing my Strat with the settings: master ( to room, but basically 10 o'clock) bass at 11, mid at 11 and treble at 2 and volume around 10.
Perhpas as some settings change. I'll be better?

Maybe back the volume off a bit so you can turn the master to 1 o'clock or more? Most Therapy users like the master up above noon,I like to keep the mids up higher than you have them, and the volume around 1 o'clock, adding more grit from a pedal.I am using the new Dr Z speaker with mine which gives beautiful cleans, and keeps the OD clear.

Originally I had the V30...probably should of kept it but I sold it and bought a used WGS Retro 30...which I liked better than the V30 at home(Celestions sound great to me in the band). I've tried the Eminence GB128(nit like) the Weber Blue Dog Ceramic 50 watt (liked it)and right now I'm trying out the Eminence Canabis Rex(like it)I don't have a favorite yet...but I do think the Therapy benefits from a more efficient speaker like the V30, or Canabis Rex. Some speakers give the Therapy more use of the B M T knobs than others. The V30 types gave more flavor than the GB128 which seemed to cut the tonal options to one sound to me.
I'm rambling now....I wondered if the smoother speakers would feel that way in heavier settings. The Therapy Is a really smooth amp...the CRex might be the same have not had it long enough yet. The Blue Dog has a scooped out middle kind of...

OK I'll get that master up on Saturday. We are playing outside. I'll get to open it up a bit more than usual. Maybe for inside, I'll have to get an airbrake.

Cutting through - the secret is your mid control. Push it up when playing live - try it once, you will see what I mean.

I play mine through the Cream too and have never experienced "lost in the mix".. i will say the Therapy has a big bottom and so does the Cream. I never have my bass control over 10 am.....usually about 9am. That will help. and like Walt said, turn that master up.....maybe mids too. I find the bass and treble controls are very sensitive. A little nudge either way does a lot. I need to turn the middle a lot more to get some change going.

Eminence Governor I've given up on Celestion speakers.........there's always a spike in the highs I can't dial out or play out, which isn't there with Eminence. Probably why the Doc gets his made there..........possibly. Anyway, I love this speaker with both my Therapy and Z28

What you say is by design. Celestion released the Cream Alnico because players thought the Gold Alnico was too bright and edgy . The Cream is smoother it still has a nice brilliance but lacks CUT,it is too smooth for some tastes. Well you can never satisfy them all.
I believe a Z -12 sounds wonderful with a Therapy , it is a low cost alternative to Celestion, which many find better sounding.

I am not a big celestion fan myself, prefering Emi's over just about anything out there. They simply make great speakers that don;t break the bank. I am not sure but I believe Z works with them on his speaker designs. For now I am liking the Z-4-10 stock cab...

A little gig report....took the suggestions here and opened the master a bit more (2 o'clock) and ran B-M-T at 10-3-2 and volume was around 10 to keep me clean. Wow, no problem last night. Sounded great. Now, I just need my drive section figured out for that last stage. Was just using a Fulldrive and an el capistan. Very very happy as I'm getting to know this amp more. And last night had me grinning!!

I've been playing my Therapy through either a Mesa 1x12 open back cabinet with a C90 or a 2x12 cab w/Vin30s. I'm about to respeaker the 2x12 cab with WGS ET65 and a WGS G12C/S. I'm told by the guys at WGS that these two speakers complement each other well.
I'll report back once I can stop traveling and make this happen.

When I got my Therapy, I first used a WGS ET65, and it sounded pretty good, but then I began using a Celestion Gold as I already had it and put it in a tolex-matching red 1x12 cab.
But a bit later I thought I'd try something different and bought an almost new EVM 12L and put it in a small open back 1x12 cab. So far I've used it with a LP with 57 Classics and today I finally plugged in a LP with p90's. Really liking this speaker with the Therapy, but as I think about it, I don't recall many posts on this forum discussing the EVM 12L. Anyone else using this speaker with any Z amp?

Anyone else using this speaker with any Z amp? kc I thought about buying one just the other day (EVM 12L) and was thinking it might bring out some Fender Twin, Jerry Garcia, kind of essence in it. The Therapy seems a great amp for a few speaker set ups as it has a lot of tonal variety. No speaker sounded bad with it, but each one brings out a different side of the amp more. I'm currently trying a 4ohm Canabis Rex and liking it.

I found through trial and error that B-M-T should be around 9-3-2 as well with master anywhere from 2 to full and volume only as high as needed for good level, but never above 11. There's something magic about this setup with my Gibson CS-336. Great job Doc. This rig truly SINGS!
