So should I sell my other two & get me a "Ray" ? I've got a couple-0-Celstion Blues coming for a cab my brother is gonna build me....so I would be set in the cab department :^) I keep 'em all if I could...but... that wouldn't work financially...so... Well, you know what my answer is gonna be! ;D I've had the Ghia and Z28, great amps, but they're quite different than the 'ray. Stingray: very complex & beautiful clean tone...little gain, but coupled with a good OD pedal, you're covered. I like a compressor with the 'ray as well.
I know it sounds overkill, but I'm lovin' the Keeley Rat dialed in low gain on the "mighty mouse" setting. Been able to set up a gain exactly like my old RxES on overdose (that went to teleking36), but the 'ray is not as bright and I greatly prefer the clean on the 'ray to any amp I've had the pleasure of trying or owning.
In the end owning ANY Z amp, you're ahead of the game!

well, hard to say what to do....I would keep everything myself if I was in a position to do that...however, I have come to think of Dr. Z amps like women, I believe it is a safe statement to say that they are all different, not better than each other, just different from each other.... I really like my StingRay, but I really like my MAZ 38NR as well....so for now at least I have both...whats 4K when it comes to great amps!....I have blown 10 times that on stupid stuff over the years....You will not get burned on a Z...the resale is there if you choose to do that and the rest is ....well....tone tone tone tone.....

Don't think I'd get rid of my Ghia or my Maz SR but the Stingray is just..... I SWEAR it just keeps amazing me.... OK case in point... We just had a gig tonight.. not an average gig, more UPPER CLASS folks ya know, had to TRY and tone it down a bit and watch the volume where we were..and we were still asked to turn down several times... I HATE THAT!! ( and or sound wasn't to loud in the FIRST place... we had a nice over all volume in the room, GOOD sound check and MOST of the folks there didn't think it was to loud either ) ............ anyway, I just turned down the STINGRAY ( several times) and THE TONE NEVER NEVER LEFT... it was beautiful... sweet even at that low volume... MASTER VOLUME... ya don't NEED it with they RAY... it AMAZED me how good it sounded, STILL responsive and would still SING at that level? ?.... I NEVER SWITCHED OVER TO THE MAZ SR... I had the MAZ SR set up even with the Airbreak, just in case.... The Stingray covered the volume level that I would have used the Ghia for and probably would have had to turn the GHIA DOWN too... the Stingray just covered it, hit a pedal for a little extra and roll off the volume for even a little less... TONE TONE TONE!!!! Sorry... but the amp is just amazing... I love it.. Zane I wouldn't get rid of your amps... BUT if and when you get a chance to try out a Stangray ( and I mean REALLY try out one) you need too.. and then decide... AWESOME AMP! Jason
