Here's one beautiful thing about the Stingray that I wanted to point out, but couldn't quite put my finger on it: For me, dialing in midrange on an amplifier has been the hardest task in tone-shaping that I've come across. You want your tone to have enough "punch" to cut through a mix, but too much midrange and the strings feel more course (for lack of a better description) and you feel like you have to "wrestle" the strings to get a smooth and "natural" sound. Too little midrange and, well you know, it gets all squishy and you're lost in the mix. With the 'Ray, the preamp is already voiced for the perfect "punch", all you have to worry about is the top end and the low end, something that is much more musically natural and less abstract. Just set the volume for the room, adjust the tone for the right blend of bottom and top, and start raising the cut to get the right amount of openness and sparkle without being harsh. Sure, that may be over-simplifying this beautifully designed amp, but its about that easy. Its like you and the guitar, only louder, just adjust top and bottom to taste . Man, this is just too cool. ;D ;D -Greg
