How about getting a list of who has tried what amps with their Z drive along with a brief description of what you liked or dissliked.
Z amps or otherwise, lets hear it!!

A worthy "project", Todd. So far, just the Z-Lux

Good idea Todd. I've played my Z-Drive through both my Therapy (Celestion Vintage 30) and my Maz 8 (Scumback Scumnico) with the same pleasure. I feel I can really hear my amps voice and their own characteristics. I've been surprised though to find the overdrive more creamy into the Maz, but I have to play more through this one. I would like to play one into a Z-Lux someday!

HA! Ive only played mine through my Therapy with a Celestion Alnico Cream. The green side is wonderful. Still figuring out the Red side....mostly, where I want it to get two different gain stages out. My Z Drive is pushing a Klon KTR. But I have a Timmy and some fuzz and a HBOD to play around with.
Very happy with this pedal. Will be ecstatic once I get the Red side dialed. Taking it to rehearsal tomorrow! Woo!

The ZD also sounds great with a Mesa MkV;25 head and Mesa Thiele cab. It drives the clean channel into a nice grind and pushes the lead channel (set to Mk IV) into endless sustain. Nice!

I've got one coming for use with my Maz 38. I'll post my results when I get back from vacation next weekend.

Used my Z Drive into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe at a rehearsal studio tonight. Sounded really good with a P90 axe (Collings 290). Freakin' loud, though.

No surprise, it sounds mighty good through a JAZ 20/40 also. Same magic as with a Z-Lux. However, I generally run the Z-Lux with the boost/eq bypass engaged. JAZ doesn't have this feature, and the Z Drive really does make this into a two/three channel amp.

I use the ZD with a CG 25th and a tele. The 3 band active EQ is very sensitive and a great addition to a ghia, just for the option. Also really enjoy having the two voicings.

As soon as parkway music here in NY gets them in I'll let ya know how it sounds with the z wreck combo!

I've been using mine with my Maz 8 at practice. I plan to use it with my Maz 18 at my next gig. The red side really nails the slide guitar tone on "Boot Scootin Boogie."

I haven't played a gig since I broke my leg in mid August. I'm playing a sit down gig on Thursday night. The guy I'm playing with is bringing guitar and amp for me (stock Pro Jr and one of my signature Stonetree T-types). The Nano is really all I can possibly carry so I'm putting the Z-Drive on there to see how it goes.

Definitely no duck walking (I can't do that with two good legs!). Be a killer with tasty licks and great tone! ME

I sat in with a friend's band over the weekend. I just brought my Maz 38, a Power Jet, a Les Paul and my pedal board with me. At some point, we decided that we were going to do an impromptu cover of U2's "With or Without You." When you get to the Edge's lead part over "give yourself away," I kicked on my Flashback Delay and the Z Drive not paying attention to the fact that I was on the green side and not the red side (what can I say, I was in the zone). Well anyway, I hit those 3 notes and everybody in the band turned to me and sort of did one of those "holy ****" faces in my direction. It was an amazing moment. I certainly love this pedal more and more every day.

Played the gig last night with my friends borrowed Stonetree Roscoecaster and stock black Pro Jr. Enjoyed the Z-Drive a lot. I was playing sitting down so it was really easy to mess with the pedal on the fly. I pulled the pedal out to take a picture of where the settings ended up by the end of the gig. The MOSFET side really sounds like an extension of the amp. I had it set to sound like the amp was "turned up a little louder". A little more breakup, a little more volume. I was using that for "emphasized parts". I had the Germanium side set up for the going for it solo sounds. I messed with it a little during the gig, which builds and gets a little louder as it goes on. Earlier in the gig I had the level of the Germanium side a little lower so I could get the sustain thing without blasting too loud. Later in the gig I just turned up the level to get the solo louder. The EQ setting I ended up with surprised me. As you can see I had both Comp Cut switches down and the bass lower than I would have thought, Treble higher than what I would have thought. It wasn't a thin sound and it wasn't screechy either. It may be that the EQ settings helped not overwhelming the small amp? I don't know but it really was fun to play with. My friends guitar was set up exactly like mine with the .001 capacitor on the volume. The pedal worked great with changes of the guitar volume also.

Eric, I'm curious about the .001 capacitor on the Strat volume control. Do you have a series resistor with it, or just the capacitor between the wiper and output terminals?

I prefer to use the cap only. No resistor. For me the resistor makes the response too smooth and yields less variety in the tones you can get from the GV with just the cap.

I ended up removing the resistor from my Strats quite a while ago too. No matter what value resistance I tried, a cap alone is my fav.
Back to the original post, I just got back from California and I took my Z-Drive with me. While I was there I plugged it into a Fender DeVille and a Strat, and it sounded really good. My friend was really impressed with it too; he kept complimenting me on my tone. We grew up together and he hasn't heard me play in over 35 years, so I hope I've gotten a little better! If he were primarily a guitarist I know he'd be buying one. But he's a bassist and aside from a flanger and a chorus now and then, he likes clean tone. That ZD sounds great with any amp I've tried it with, it's hugely versatile. The eq is so powerful, that at first I didn't like it. But I quickly found that the magic is in the midrange.

I use the Z Drive with a 1x10 Z-28 & a Mesa SOB. I love the EQ.

I played my ZD through my MAZ 18, MAZ 8, Vibrolux Reverb, and JAZ 20/40. I liked the green side a lot through them all. I just couldn't find a sound in the red side with any of them I was really happy with. I got to the point where I wished that BOTH sides were green circuits. In the end I couldn't dedicate the space that it took on my board and only use the one side. That's why I sold it. That and I was already settled in with my Tim and they are similar.
Again, I'd like to see both sides be the green circuit.

The Red side is tough by itself. I find the dirtier the amp, the better that side sounds...
