2 thing actually. What type of guitar does this amp seem to favor? Does the amp come with an effects loop? Seems my MAZ38 is a Strat amp at least to my ears, just loves them. Sounds good with my LP but really comes into its own with my Strat. And as the 38 has no reverb but has an effects loop, I was wondering if they did the same here.

I think since him and Paisley made it it will probably favor Tele or Strat, I can't really judge because I don't have one yet.

When I ordered mine they told me the effects loop was standard. I don't see why it wouldn't sound fine with either type of guitar. If it sounds good with an Ovation I think it'll sound good with anything.

Tele is in my opinion the perfect fit, but I just put some WCR Crossroads in my LP Standard and it sounds great too. A little thicker and more aggressive.

I think it can work just fine with any guitar.
At a gig Saturday, I used an Andy DTC with M1, M1, M2, an Andy HTC with TV1,TV3 and a Gibson CS 59 LP. I was able to get great tones from all. But I did need to adjust the tone and cut just a tad switching from the single coil guitars to the 57 classics in the LP.
I have also used it with various Strats, Teles, a PRS Hollow I, and a 335.
I have a Maz Sr and Junior too. I find that I can get great tones without adjusting the controls on those amps even while switching from singles to hums. So they may be a bit more versatile.
But again, my point is the Ray can work with any guitar just fine. I find that I just reverse the tone and cut settings.
Oh yeah, the FX loop is in mine. I guess it is standard.

I hate to admit it, but after a spin with a Tele, a Lester, a TAG Hollow T w/M series and a Strat...... The Strat was the winner.........This was through a Z 1x12 with a V-30.

this is a bit odd, i fireing up the amp and notice the further you turn the tone knob up, the less tone there is, I believe it is wired in backwards....?>?> with the tone on full, its all muffled, with the tone off, its thin and tinny, like it should be if it were on full, cept its off...anyone else got this going on?>

Fishman, YES!! it IS wired backwards just like the carmen ghia's tone knob is... there is a reason Doc does this and I read it somewhere ( i'm sure someone will chime in with it).. but I don't remember the reason why.... The STINGRAY has LOVED every guitar I've thrown at it and it can get FAT with certain ones... I've got one strat in particular that is really fat sounding and hairy with the Stingray more so than with other amps I've used it through... single coil/ double coil both sound good... My head also sounds great through several different speaker cabs.... ONE FINE amp!! Jason
