Since I have a new "unplugged" gig starting soon, I went out the last several days and demo'ed all sorts of acoustic/electric guitars...Taylor, Martin, Breedlove, Takemine, Gibson, Fender...and settled on an Ovation 1778T Elite partly because it feels and plays almost like my Tele. After having the tech put 11's on and drop the action a tad more, I took it home and plugged it into my CS-3 to the Stingray. My intention all along was to use the main PA, but dang this guitar sounds SO GOOD through the Stingray! It still sounds like a good acoustic, but you can dig in and actually get some snappy twang! I'm thinkin' this could turn into quite a nice gig, a change of pace at the least

Cool Bill, I've played my Taylor through the Ghia and was shocked at how good that sounded.

Me and a buddy rehearsed for two hours on acoustics last night...what a BLAST! Plugged into, of course, the Stingray which being so clean and expressive adds much to the equation. We're adding some new material for our first gig, Kristopherson, Dylan, Prine, Cash, wrote one in drop D last night, SRV's "Life by the Drop".
The old stuff we rehearsed was met with a different twist...funny how an acoustic can open up some new, fresh ideas. Love using the capo too, different chord inversions, too much fun.

Funny Bill, I rarely use a Capo, but when I do sit down in a quiet room with an acoustic and use the capo, a new song always pops out, the new voicing really stirs the ears I think.
Enjoy the new setting !
I've forgotten life by the drop......have ta sit down and relearn that one, it just floored me when that CD came out.

Don;t short change Ovation, I have a 2003 Collectors Edition Elite.....wicked good guitar.....can just about do it all....I have played it acoustic, distorted, chorused whatever,,,the guitar can handle whatever yu throw its way...they are just good guitars from the people that have been doing it forever....and the StingRay is apparently a good vechile for this style guitar...I like that already. I will be sure to try my Ovation thru my StingRay when it gets here....come on UPS....

BTW Whats in your Ovation for electronics? OP30, 40? 50? OP30...love it, especially flipping back and forth mid song from my setting to the factory pre-set, kind of like changing positions on a strat or tele. Just booked another acoustic gig a few minutes ago. Looks like I'll be getting some use from the acoustic!

I have played mine in full band mode, no feedback, just good sounds....IMHO they are a great value for the money...essentially the higher end Elites are Adamas without the carbon fiber top...really good acoustic electrics...i have a guy now wants to swap me a Larrivee....only have heard one, but man do they sound good...........I will see what I have laying around that I am not useing and see if I can make a deal...enjoy the ovation....the op series electronics are really very good...you could upgrade that to 40 or 50 if you wanted as they are just slide out modular units....
