Hello
I have a the latest remedy and a dr z convertible 1x12 cab with a celestial Gold.
Looking on here, most people are suggesting getting a creamback speaker as it works better with the remedy and isn't as loud.
Which Creamback are most people going for?
I'm running a 8ohm Gold and was thinking of getting a 16ohm creamback which should bring the volume down even more and be kinder to the tubes.
I'm looking to make this a better amp for home practice as well as gigging. Will the gain/overdrive sound different? Less Fizzy? or get to the goodness quicker?
Last thing i have a combo (not Z) Brunetti Singleman 35 combo (blackface circuit) running a V30 16ohms. it has a external cab out. So will pairing the combo to the Dr Z cab work and sound good using different speakers. I think the V30 is as loud as the gold so pairing the V30 with the less efficient creamback be ok?
Thanks in advanced

Creamback "M"...not the H.
I don't know enough about running a higher ohm speaker than what the amp jack calls for. Probably a little less fizzy but not by much at bedroom volumes.
You can pair a 97db creamback with a 100db V30....but the V30 will be the dominate tone because it's a louder speaker.

I had both the gold and the creamback in my Dr Z convertible 1/12 cab when I had the Remedy. I loved that Gold with the remedy especially playing clean. But in all honesty I experienced that the creamback worked better with the remedy the way I was using it. It def will break up quicker. I had the 8ohm Creamback. It was the M as John suggested. Hope it all works out for you.

Can you describe in what the real differences are between these two speakers.
Is it worth taking the plunge into the creamback? what will I experience

I had both and they both are great speakers. But the creamback seemed perfect volume wise. Little rounder, woody tones that just seemed perfect to me.

The Creamback and the Remedy was awesome. I didn't care as much for the Gold with the Remedy. Just my 2 cents

I've never tried a Creamback but I have tried many a speaker with my Remedy and hands down the Celestion G12M Greenback work the best for me.

About to pull the trigger on a g12-m and notice 2 speakers that I was wondering if people had experience off?
The alinco cream?
Also looks like this one hasn't come out yet. The neo creamback! Looks like the same tone but half the weight

The Neo is VERY new. I'm not aware of anyone here who has one.
The alnico gets very good reviews too. But I'm more of a ceramic magnet type of guy, so the g12m creamback is the one for me.

Hy guys, this is my first post, hope to be helpful in some way. I tried my Remedy into several speakers (including the Celestion G12M-65 Creamback) at the studio, but unfortunately, the cell phone was the only "recorder" available. In case someone is interested... www.youtube.com/user/abnerfm/videosP.S.: not all the videos were recorded at the same day and same cell phone, please take this into consideration

I think you're gonna love the Creamback with the Remedy. I play mostly Blues, trashy country / Americana, and classic (mostly British) rock. Here's what I've discovered.
The Gold is loud, efficient (100db) and clean. Glorious full sound.
The G12M Creamback is less efficient (97db) quieter overall, but breaks up at lower volume levels. It IS tho still loud enough with a 30+ watt amp to play any average to large gig.
I personally like the Celestion Gold with my lower powered amps, say 20-ish watts or less; basically the amps that will break-up on their own and give you a little hair even at medium to lower volume levels (Monza, Ghia, Maz Jr, etc).
For my 35-50ish watt amps, I prefer the G12M Creamback especially playing at moderate to low volumes where the AMP is not breaking up. At these levels the AMP is still playing clean, and at this volume a Celestion Gold would not be driven to it's break-up level yet, but the G12M Creamback will already be breaking-up a bit to give you a little crunch. Goose these bigger amps a little more and the Creamback really gives up the goods.

Here is an update: last weekend, I did another speaker shoot out with the Remedy, this time I compared 3 speakers:
- Celestion G12H-30 Anniversary: at bedroom volumes, it sounded the best of the bunch. Very balanced through the frequency spectrum. Not harsh at all (as I thought it would be). But, as soon as I raised the amp's volume, it sounded very different, much treblier, but part of that is because the Remedy "opens up" with the volume past 1 o'clock. Great note definition, think Jimmy Page in The Song Remains The Same (1973);
- Eminence GB128: shockingly good for the money. Breaks up soon, but not in a bad way. Fatter than the G12H-30 and bigger sounding than the others. Shows a little high-mid bump and compression. One of my favorites with the Remedy. The cheapest of the bunch;
- Celestion Heritage G12-65: when I tried this one, the neighbours started complaining, so, unfortunately, I wasn't able to try it at higher volumes as I did with the other ones. So, it sounded the darker of the bunch, but part of this is because the Remedy "opens up" with the volume past 1 o'clock (well, mine does it). Add to that the fact that the speaker was brand new, so, I'll probably give it another shot in the future. I'll try to do this next weekend and will report back. Sorry for the long post.

The G12H sounds great at bedroom levels, but when you start playing with a band....I hate it. Too much bass and treble....not enough midrange. (The guitar is a midrange instrument)
The G12-65 will sound darker because of that big dust cover. It kills that crispy treble. I think this speaker is a good match for people who think they're getting an ice pick high end. Or for amps that have a tendency to be 'fizzy' with preamp distortion. (Mesa type amps)
With the Remedy, I think everyone should be required(!) to try a greenback based speaker. It seems by far to be the best match.

I was able to try it again at the studio and at band levels (but without tha band). It shaved the excessive treble and sounds very smooth. Probably the best speaker I've tried with the Remedy, but I haven't tried it in a band context.
