Hey all. I am new to this forum and to Dr Z amps. I recently traded into a Prescription 1x12 combo. Those of you that use OD pedals with your Prescription, which pedals do you like? Thanks!

Hermida Zen Drive. that pedal kills with anything i put it in front of. plug it in twist a couple knobs and what ever comes out will sound great. no need to futz around dialing it in. I actually got Eric Johnson's violin tone out of my once with. that'a one time i whish i'd paid more attention to setting so i could do it again. I'm pretty sure way too much volume was involved. Nothing like an RX dimed

I appreciate the response. I will check a Zen Drive out when I get the opportunity. I had a chance to try a few pedals I have lying around and found that the Maxon OD808 was a pretty good match.

I was going to add an 808 pedal sounds killer - at least with a friend's rig and Prescription!

Hey, welcome to the forum, mwoodbro! You know, that's a good question about which pedal works best... because I don't think I've even tried a single pedal in front of my original Rx!
Since there's already so many shades of color--from clean to overdrive, with just a little change in guitar-volume or picking attack--I'd aim for using a rather flat-EQ or "transparent" type overdrive that doesn't change the overall sound too much. Or maybe even something like the Xotic RC-booster that can add a bit of Gain but mostly just Boost.
Do you have an AirBrake or BrakeLite attenuator, too? That would help a lot to keep the volume under control while you're adding some gain & volume from a pedal on the front end.

Thanks. I have been playing mostly Fender and Fender style amps for many years. I just got the Prescription this week and I am looking forward to getting familiar with it. It is already apparent that it is a whole different animal. I do have an Airbrake, but so far I prefer the sound of the amp full on. I realize I still have of playing around to do. I can see where using a "transparent" OD does make sense with this amp.
