What happens if you just put a 5ar4 in? Do you still have to rebias?

This much is clear: I pretty much need a modded M12.
Nuff said.

This sounds tempting. If anybody has tried it I'd love to hear a sound clip.

Hi DR-Z Greetings from Denmark Regarding to - Rebias by replacing 180 Ohm 10 watt bias resistor with a 150 Ohm 10 watt resistor - could I ask you to put in a link to the resistor type - Im becoming aware there is so many variations in matirial and tolerance ... Wouldn't risk to order the wrong one

Just got the Steve Miller mod done - and must say - what a sound The M12 is perfect as it is - but vs the more balanced hifi sound you here get more clarity, headroom and punch "the tone feels closer to the speaker cardboard". I changed my 12 celestion blue (pre installed) to a 12 celestion gold - and will next week change it to a 12" BlackHawk alnico speaker - witch I hope will be the perfect match for some country sound with a little more warmth and mid tone. I haven't played a StangRay so can't compare the sound, and still have to make the big pedal test. But thumps up from here - Im happy
