Hi
Firstly does the Remedy work as a normal master volume amp? When you crank the master on the new remedy its working the power amp and then the high and normal volume its working the preamp tubes?
When i'm playing in my full band i don't use an overdrive pedal, just the eqbypass by I'm looking for an overdrive pedal to use at home to practice with and for when i do small gigs.
I tried the lovepedal kalamazoo pedal and it robbed the remedys tone, i have always found that with pedals so i'm looking for an overdrive that...
doesn't colour the tone of the amp,
cleans up well with the guitar volume
easy to dial in
basically want what i have at band volumes but in bedroom levels.
Xotic SL drive?

I always thought the Fulldrive II did all that pretty well.

Maybe you want to wait until the Z-Drive comes out!

Z-Drive?
The full drive takes up too much pedalboard space!
The other options where the mini tubescreamer. However will the tubescreamer work with remedy?
I play a strat and my amp settings are usually Master to taste with room, Bass 9, Mid maxed out! trebel around 9 and the two masters are around noon but i usually but the high up more
the other options are venuman jan ray pedal or prince of tone

Hi Dean, If you want a pedal that doesn't color the tone of you amp, I thing neither the Xotic SL nor a Tubescreamer is the way to go. I'm surprised the Kalamazoo changed your tone; it's known for its transparency, but I can't swear cause I've never tried one. I guess the Timmy (which I used to have) may be exactly what you're looking for... For "almost transparent" tones with a little bit of caracter (who says "magic"? ), you could check around Klon clones (the Rockett Archer is the best I've tried yet). My personal overdrive graal is the Lazy J Cruiser Deuce, but it's very expensive and it may not suit all types of amps (it's stellar into my Maz 8, but I prefer the Archer with the Therapy). Good search!

The Timmy has been a keeper for me. I don't have a Remedy but that was my other choice when picking my Rt66. I also have a Barber Gain Changer that I feel maintains the character of the amp.

So does the master not quiet things down enough for home practice / small room gigs? Or does it get quiet enough, but the tone seems lacking? If it's the latter, I think you might be able to adjust for the low master by tweaking the tone and hi lo knobbies. Another thought is that you might not want a transparent overdrive at all, but rather one of the many 'plexi-in-a-box' pedals out there if you are looking to reclaim some remedy crunch at low volumes. Just thinkin' out loud... Edit: ha! You're way ahead of me - the SL drive is one of the many marshall in a box pedals

The amp just sounds a bit thin/fuzzy (gain wise) when the amp is low volumes.
I have learnt that you need to get the master at least to 1 o'clock for it to sound good. I usually have mine on 3 on 20 watt
I have just got the wampler clarksdale. This was John from Peaches guitar in the uk. I trust his ear. He has loads of great gear at his shop so hopefully it will be a perfect match. Its a Tubescreamer circuit with extra control on the eq.

My OCD sounds great with my Remedy...just have to dial the tone control (on the pedal) back a bit more than my other amps, as the Rem has a lot of presence, and I'm using a 2X10 cab.

The ramble Fx Marvel drive is great with the remedy mmm interesting. Just brought a Dirty Little Secret III hopefully i'll get similar tones to the Marvel. Have you been able to compare the two pedal against each other? I was thinking about getting a RC Booster too. If the amp is running hot at a gig will the RC give me extra saturation and sustain if i run the gain high on the pedal? Does it give you bite if you running the amp clean too?

Yes I was I actually had them both at the same time. I have a archer icon I run after the marvel drive as a boost. I was able to compare them and that's when I realized I liked the marvel drive better. The DLS sounded bigger and more open sounding. I just liked the warmth of the marvel drive better. Both pedals will give you sustain and bite. The DLS cleans up better.

thanks! Can you run the DLS like a clean boost too in SB mode?
What version did you have? Seems like the new v3 has more options.
What settings did you like? from vids and what i'll try first is treble and mids maxed bass low. SB mode, 18v
Hopefully this give me the dynamics of a real plexi.
It also has the internal Presence control if you find it too bright or dark which is a cool feature

I recently had the newest version thats what I did my comparison with. With a stratocaster the SB mode is the way to go and yes it will clean up and be a very pristine clean boost like a plexi. It def has more options then the older versions. You can dial it in with the presence control inside. I Just could not bond with it. For some reason it was just too bright for my taste. I liked the SB mode the best. Here is a a pic of my older board set up when I had the DLS Version 2

The JHS Morning Glory works great for me for doing precisely what you are looking for!

+1 JHS Morning Glory. It's by far my favorite transparent drive.
Another good option would be the Bondi Sick As overdrive. If you're having to turn the master down to a point where the tone thins out a little you can really compensate for that with the active bass and treble EQ section the Sick As provides. The Sick As can basically be completely transparent as well. It's really an amazing pedal!

I use to use a good Klone (AF1), but the low-mid bump added something the Remedy doesn't need (it's great with a Strat + blackface combo, though). So, I sold my Klone and bougth a Fulltone Fat-Boost, which I like because it sounds kinda raw and open, and the Tone and Drive knobs are really a bonus!
