Hi Folks, Not posted here for a while. I recently moved my Maz 18 on due to playing larger venues and needing greater clean headroom. My ideal amp needs to have a great clean sound with plenty of clean headroom and be a great platform for pedals! I was able to try a Remedy today and loved it - it sounded great at almost any volume and there was something about the clean tone that I preferred over the Maz clean? I still really like the Maz enough to stay with them but, but as the subject says, which has the greater clean headroom would you say? Also, should I also be considering the Antidote a good candidate given my requirements? By the way, the main requirement from the amp for me is playing function gigs so a great deal of clean chord work in a wide variety of styles is the main requirement. BTW; I will be posing the same question to the good people over on the Maz pages Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

IMHO - the maz 38 has more clean headroom.

I can't imagine needing more clean headroom than the Maz 38 provides. Nominal wattage notwithstanding, there were times I thought it was on a par with my Twin Reverbs. I know it was as loud.
If you're going with a 1x12, try it with an Emi Tonker and stand back!

I've owned both and the Maz 38 has a lot of clean headroom and it's one of the best clean to cleanish sounds I've ever heard. Remedy is also really nice but is designed to breakup much earlier.

I've had both as well (still have the Remedy). The MAZ definitely had more clean headroom.

Thanks chaps, that's very helpful. It would seem fairly conclusive that the Maz 38 has the edge on clean headroom then! But I still fancy a different flavour. So, I think I'm going to explore the Antidote and possibly the EZG 50 Thanks again

Try a Therapy while you're experimenting; there's a lot there.

So, I think I'm going to explore the Antidote and possibly the EZG 50 Worth the time to check these amps out. Both do "loud clean."

I gig regularly with a MAz 38 NR head. I can confidently say it's is a great amp for some loud cleans!

The EZG will be very clean and can go from quiet to loud and be full sounding. With the Antidote you might use your guitar volume more to clean it up but it will also rip your face off with a thick, touch sensitive, tone; I run mine with an attenuator or an RC Booster. Those 66 tubes have a unique tone versus the 6L6's or EL84's, I can't speak to the Remedy or Therapy sounds. Good luck!
