Just received #12 today and I'm loving it. Really great sounds and can do about anything. Was wondering what pedals if any you guys might have tried through the Z-Lux. Playing telecasters through mine but I'm going to be looking for a good OD to put with the Z-Lux.

Hey, congrats on the amp.
Yesterday I plugged my small gig pedalboard into the Z-Lux. I have three ODs on board. In order (1) RYRA Klon Klone; (2) Keeley Red Dirt; and (3) Cause and Effect FET Dream. They're set to provide different flavors and the dialed-in (on the pedals) gain increases along the chain. They all sounded fine. Interestingly, I didn't need to tweak them at all. I left them set the same as I use into a Carmen Ghia.
I think you could plug anything into this amp and have it sound good. You might have to adjust Volume on the Z-Lux. Of course, the built-in eq bypass is very good on its own, and it works fine with pedals.

Gonna sound like a broken record here, but please check out the Mad Professor Simble. Ended my search for dirt pedals because it is 100% transparent, and with its 2 tone controls, you can either make it really, really smooth or really crunchy or anywhere in between. Got a demo up on the video section with Z Lux's predecessor the JAZ in a country type setting. But it can do any genre real well.
Don't let the "Dumble" description of it sway you, it sounds like YOUR amp overdriven, not a dumble. So it isn't like a zendrive with all that mid boost and compression.

pedals give you versatility, ease of use, flexible tone shaping but in case of great amps they kill tone. the z-lux sounds soo good...I would not use anything but a great guitar in front of it

Maybe wait for the Dr Z drive pedal that Earthquaker and him are working on ....seems like the killer 2 button OD made by Doc otta make it sings.

Just ordered a Free The Tone MS-1V SOV pedal. Should be perfect with the amp. It is the original signed limited edition one. I love Matt Schofield and I think this will work great with this amp to give me just what I need.

Anyone leaving the boost on all night? I am! Here's a tip. Get an unused 1/4 " jack and insert into the boost input. Then no need for the footswitch. I like a right angle 1/4 " jack, looks better from the back. Now boost will be engaged , adjust amp and guitars volume and the amp will growl.

Doc, Would this trick work with the reverb/trem on the Z-Lux or must you keep the actual footswitch hooked up for the reverb/trem to work? Obviously you'd have to use a smaller plug.

Doc, think you meant to say a 1/4" phone plug, which would go into the jack. Definitely a right-angle one would look better.

Thanks Doc, can I just cut a cable? I will do just that. You actually read these post. I have had 8 Zs, one at a time ( I live on disability) over the years. This is my new gem. This Z-Lux will do whatever I ask of it...And the sweet spot is everywhere! I was gonna get the Therapy but a 42 lbs combo with verb and trem, boost and 20/40 watts. I could not resist the Voodoo of this gem. I have #21, my Black Jack.

Yes Mike it is a 1/4 " plug. The Plug must be open or unused , this opens the circuit and engages the boost.
RCA plug in reverb , reverb always on, a shorted plug turns it off. RCA plug in Trem, Trem always off, shorted plug turns it on.

Decided against using an overdrive pedal. I'm using mine with the boost for my overdrive and it sounds great. When I shut the boost off to get a cleaner sound I'm using a Fulltone 2B to bump up the sound to equal that of the boost on and it sounds great but much cleaner than the actual boost. Seems like this will be the setup for me. Right now I'm using a tele with a Dimarzio area t hot bridge and it sounds killer. No pedals needed.
