Got an original RX head here on the BST. Great amp. One odd thing. I noticed it buzzes like crazy when I activate the footswitch. Have not chased it down yet. Anyone have this before? I sent Doc an email as well. Just figured I would see if anyone had this issue. I put an NOS GE rectifier in it. Killer amp so far. Only had it for less than a day but so far so good.

Niiice. Loud, ain't it?
I find that the amp (or at least, mine) ramps up in volume VERY quickly (max perceived volume around 9-10 o'clock on the dial, maybe?). After that, though, it just gets more shades of hairy/dirty. Really cool mix of that plexi roar with some vox-y jangle on the high strings. And loud. Did I mention it's loud?
Would love to hear your thoughts on this amp after the honeymoon period..!

I tried some NOS Mullards 12AX7s today and some NOS CV4004 Brimars. Played my SG through it. Have mercy..... a great rock and roll machine. Wound up with 2 Mullards and one Brimar. Volume at 2:30 and the master (that Doc installed) at noon....sweet rock tone.

I think I figured out the buzzing footswitch issue. Tested last night and looks like a short in the footswitch. Have a new one on the way for testing.

I almost had my hands on one of these once, but someon else gave a better trade option....glad it looks like it's the foot switch causing the buzz. Congrats on the new tone machine.

Tried the RX through my 2 x 12 with Greenbacks. I think I will try my 4 x 12 next. Was running the amp with Master all the way up and volume at 2:00 to wide open.....I was using my airbrake to tame it some. Very fun with Humbuckers and P90s.

I actually have four of the original RXs - the #1 prototype, a regular early production, and two that are mislabelled as Maz 38 "Combo" and a Maz 38 "Studio Lead". All,sound a little different but all are killer. The mislabelled RXs and the prototype are more in the Marshall camp - the early production more in the Vox camp. Great amps if you can find them!

I got a new footswitch and the weird buzzing went away. Quiet as a mouse now. I think I have found a really killer tone. BASS at 9:00 MID 3:00 TREBLE at 2:00 Vol at 2:00. Master close to half way up or so. Kind of Marshally low end/miss and more of a voxy chime mixed in.
