I live in Australia and it appears I cant find a Stangray head anywhere in the USA, or find someone willing to ship to Aus. I have a Carmen Ghia and have been using a step down transformer successfully, so I don't need modifications to any amp, 110 volt is fine.
If anyone can help please chime in.

Do you mean you can't get one from a dealer? Or eBay?

Found one and got it, its on its way from the UK to me. Also got a flight case with it which should give extra protection during its journey.

Its arrived. I knew from the first two notes I hit on my tele that this was the sound I have been longing for, simply amazing. It sure does get hot though, is this normal? The heat coming out of the back seems to be more intense than my AC30. Maybe I should run a little fan at the back of it?

Lol.....it may be the fact that most of the heat is being trapped inside your AC 30 and the Stangray is breathing as it should !

I use a small fan with mine. In fact, with all of my amps. Just shut off the fan when the amp is powered down. You don't want to be chilling the EL-84's, just keeping them vented.

Ah yes of course, that makes sense, the Vox has very little in the way of vents to breath from so I guess less heat is escaping.

Historically, if I recall correctly, AC30s have been considered ovens and a very harsh environment for tubes due to the excessive heat buildup. I suspect if heat retention was an issue Doc would have spec'd the amp with a fan

This Stangray is by far the best amp I have ever played through, I just wish I had pulled the trigger on one of these sooner, there will be no looking back now, I have to make up for lost time so I am playing it loud and hard. I live on a rural property, no neighbours to worry about, so I have the ability to enjoy practice at gig volume. All the boys in the band love it and even some of our fans have complemented me on the tone. Thankyou Dr Z for building such a wonderful amplifier. No wonder Brad Paisley loves it.
