Do any of you know what pedal the description is referring to in the bold? "The Burning Goat is a medium overdrive pedal. Loosely based on a pedal that a friend of ours built, this pedal has a natural light clipping texture that blends with most every amp. The Burning Goat is in use by bands ranging from country to rock to metal bands. The sounds that this pedal pushes out are classic, and refined. From clean boost, to light overdrive, to singing, sustaining medium overdrive, this pedal is at home with any musical style. The tone control acts almost as a presence control. As the tone control is increased, it pushes both high-end frequencies, and gain levels up. This pedal is NOT A "SCREAMER" type pedal. Think outside of the tonal box with the Burning Goat!" As I was reading the description, I was thinking screamer but now I am a tad curious as well!

It says that it's not a screamer type pedal, yet every site selling it says :"From a 'cleanish' boost to that classic 'Screamer' overdrive without the mid hump."
Also some mention that it uses the 4558 opamp which was first used in the original OD-1. So that's my guess.

I suppose "a friend of ours" could be anybody. Might not even be something that's in mainstream production.

There's a gutshot in the video here:
but they gooped it. One dual-opamp. Could be a Timmy derivative (it kinda has that sound) but they must have changed the tone section.

So I ended up emailing Nick Greer to get the scoop on the Burning Goat and he said that the pedal was originally developed for another company and that the Burning Goat was the version he liked best, but the company went with a different version. So he couldn't say who the other builder was or what pedal the company ended up going with due to contractual obligations. So if anyone else was wondering, there ya go!
