I took Myles advice and purchase and installed the following tubes in my KT-45.
NOS GE 5AR4/GZ34-----Rectifier SED (Winged C) EL34 (Matched Pair) close to 42 as possible----Power tubes Sovtek 12AX7LPS----phase inverter Dario Miniwatt EF86
My amp guy is out of commision for a while and unable to bias my amp for me. I was trying to find info on how to bias but I guess due to insurance/hazard reasons they do not post how to bias. However, I did take apart the amp and use the Dr Z method and measure the voltage on the red/white striped wire and turned the pot until I got 440volts. I tried the amp with this setting and it sounded like it did before with a little more bite to it (probably from the new tubes).
I would like to know how to measure the bias to acheive 36ma reading. Could someone please either send me an e-mail ( firstname.lastname@example.org )or post where I have to measure this reading? I have aligator clips, a voltmeter, and sheilded tools so I just need some direction.
