Man, I had listed it here for a bit, glad I pulled it. This amp is incredible. I have always been a 6V6 fan and this amp delivers. I've read that the EF86 front end makes this amp more pedal friendly, and from my experience that is completely true. The simple tone stack coupled with that preamp makes this my go to country to rock to blues utility knife.
So, if I ever list this amp for sale again, please remind me to keep it!
Best,
UJ

I feel the same way except I already sold two of them! With endless funds I would still own mine. Great amps!

I played an outdoor gig this last Thursday (for the 1st time in almost a year) and I took my Remedy, Z28, and 1x12 Creamback cab. The Z28 wins in my book, with single coils or buckers AND pedals.

Best, UJ I've been through the same thing. A while back I considered trading it for something else but honestly I can't imagine owning a "better" amp. This will probably be the amp I keep forever or until I decide to really downsize. Or if I can somehow come up with the $ to get the new Z-Lux!

Thanks for the replies and many nod's in agreement. Just a little background. I play in an Eagles tribute which has developed some regional following. We do some heavy gigging during the summer. My ritual has been to re-tool my rig every winter. This winter I grabbed a Carr Rambler (awesome amp) and started the process of pedals, guitars etc.
Thru that process, I finally realized that my Z28 tone last year was probably the best and most complimented sound in the past 8 years with this project. Perfect for this type of music.
So in the end, I converted the Z from a Mather combo cabinet to a head and separate 1x12 cabinet, and am using that for my base tone. I'm happy.
Probably keep the Rambler also, since I believe this to be a slightly better blues amp (one of my other projects), having the trem and reverb.
In summary, the Z28 just eats pedals and kills for a straight forward rock-country tone. I've been digging it and am extremely satisfied with my rig this year!

You guys failed me! In a moment of financial weakness, I sold it on this forum. Great amp, I will own another one, probably sooner than later.

So, I've been gigging a DRRI for several months. It's good, but I miss the Z28. Thinking of getting back into the game and picking up a Z28 in a small head case. Miss that cutting, crisp tone with my Tele!

Z-28 = the Doc's greatest creation.
OK...OK, I have not played them all but I've played and owned a bunch over the years.

I've used that phrase "don't ever let me sell my ...." With just about every Z I've owned. Seems every time I sell one I end up getting another one later to replace it. Done that with Stangray (replaced by a Stingray, replaced by BP's Stingray #1), Remedy (on my third one), my Galaxie (replaced the original one with Joe Walsh's Galaxie and a red combo), a 6545 that I sold to Paul K. and then bought back from him when he sold it, on my second Z-Wreck, an RX ES that I sold and then replaced with one of Tracii Guns' RX ES combo loaded with a Gold, an SRZ 65 RC (#007) that I got from Dan here on the Forum, and then traded to Drew for his Stangray GT (a two of a kind killer amp) and then replaced with SRZ 65 RC #001 and probably a few that I've forgotten about. Like the old anti-drug campaign said "Just say no!"

There is a reason why I still have my Z28....I don't see it ever leaving my possession until I no longer play guitar!

My Z-28 1x10 combo with my Gibson ES 135 works with a band or playing solo. They go great together. I have Mesa SOB, a new Supro 1622RT, both are fine but the Z-28 is so ready to play with any guitar I have. Tried to sell it once, but the deal fell thru. So glad I still have it.

I've had 6 Z amps - Z28 1x10 combo, Rativ2, Route 66, KT45, CG Anni, and Therapy; I sold the 66 (too dark) and Rati (just wasn't playing it, but I do miss it).
This afternoon I was able to spend a couple of uninterrupted hours with my Z28 and some of my favorite guitars: a Gibson CS336, a Fender Telecaster and a Heritage Golden Eagle arch top - just the instrument, an Analysis Plus Cable and the amp.
In short, I've concluded that the Z28 will be one of the last of my amps to go, including Polytone, Fender and Mesa amps.
There is an awful lot to the 28.

Well, I caved.........my son just bought my Z28 from me! As he lives with me, it isn't going anywhere, so it's mine to use as needed still, but it's now technically his! To be honest, he sounds way better than me through it anyway

I thought about selling mine but the tone is too good to let go! Yeah, definitely! Don't do it. I had to sell off some gear a while back when I was having some financial issues. I regret, to this day, selling it. I will have another at some point!
