It's in the Therapy forum section….i think you guys can figure out the rest
Black on Black Therapy, arrived Thursday. For the moment, i'll be running it into an old-version Z open back cab with a WGS ET65. Strongly considering going trying a few different speakers out (which i normally don't really do).
Haven't really gotten much time with the amp myself yet. Played it for an hour after unpacking, then kids and work took up the rest of my Thurs and Friday. Had a gig Saturday nite, preceded by a quick practice. I had dumped the amp my singer was using to pick up the Therapy, and i love my Maz18, so i let my singer do the honors…Don't think i wasn't jealous! I was immediately impressed tho at how much better we blended as a band, mostly due to the better cleans and clarity from the Therapy. Of course the Therapy has no problem getting dirty too, so we were kind of quickly finding a happy middle ground. Then straight to the gig!
I'll report back when i've spent more time with it. Even if i'm not using it as my main amp, i'll be spending a lot of time practicing with it. The Master /Volume interaction on the Therapy is much more conducive to home playing then the Master/Volume interaction on the Maz, IMO. Also, based on what i was hearing from the other side of the stage, the Strat my singer plays sounded pretty great thru the Therapy. I love Strats but never have liked 'em much with the Maz (i love the Maz for indie/rock/alt/pop tones, pedal platform). I'm interested to see if i can get the balance of power, clean/dirty and sustain that i need from an amp to get a Strat to work for me. So far with my main 2 guits (Esquire and Tele) i had no problem dialing in exactly what i was looking for, which so far was mostly just Maz-like tones. I definitely look forward to getting outside my comfort zone tho!
Big big thanks to the Doc. Getting this amp has reignited my Z GAS, i'm plotting my next one...
cheers!!!!!
