One thing I was apprehensive about before buying the Therapy was 35 watts of LOUD volume, everything I read stated that Doc's watts are louder than some other manufacturer's.I have been pleasantly surprised to find it is not as loud as I thought-both volumes on 3 oclock and it's loud-but not insanely so-i'm using a 1x12 with an eminence wizard 75 watt speaker, and my wife is still watching the tube downstairs. This leads me to this question-I have read a lot about the Ghia head being too loud at 18 watts to really open up at home. For those who have both heads, would you consider the Therapy with these settings to be as loud or louder than a ghia at 3-4 o'clock through the same speaker ? Cause I REALLY want a Ghia.

Given that you use the same speaker the Therapy will only be marginally louder than the Ghia... for every doubling of wattage you get a 3db increase in volume the real benefit is increased headroom with the doubling of wattage. Don't let that discourage you from getting a Ghia when I had mine I loved it but it wasn't the sound I wanted at the time.

The Ghia was my favorite amp ever and yet the reason I got the Therapy was due to the Ghia not being quite enough for a loud band/friend that I play with. I thought the Ghia was nice around the house BUT after owning a MV amp of Doc's I'd say that the Ghia is always loud if your playing it right where as the Therapy can be MV'ed down to more of a less fatiguing level......if you want the Ghia drive sounds that is. For me the Ghia could have been my only amp....if I didn't have this one friend who is less sensitive to band mix. Now with Theray power I just turn up.
Another well known issue here brother is that once I started sampling Doc's amps I quickly realized how unique and awesome they were......could get expensive, loud and funner.

Wow.. if you can do both volumes at 3:00 on the Therapy, then the Ghia shouldn't be a problem.

Yea after a lifetime of headphones, construction machinery noise, and playing too loud i'm a little deafish.I have my space semi soundproofed too,one of my neighbors can't stand the drums and guitar,so I tried to damp as much as possible.Still not enough for her,but whatever.

I can't speak about the ghia volume as I've never played one, but i can compare the therapy to the z28. I've had a therapy for about a month and played it exclusively. After the honeymoon period faded, i plugged the z28 back in(same cab)... I almost jumped through the roof.
Was i really playing that loud before? Without a master, i was playing a lot louder with the 28 to get the sound i wanted. I could get louder with the therapy, but i didn't need to (small room).
So, i guess I'm saying the master volume on the therapy makes it a more versatile amp than a non master amp, even one with less watts.

If you're playing the Therapy on 3-3 on the Vs, then a Ghia is no problem........ in fact, you'll have it cooking at comparable volumes!
But I will say this - the Ghia cuts through the mix better than any Z amp I've played - so maybe its perceived volume may be louder than it's 18W implies. It all depends on what you consider its sweet spot I guess.

My Ghia is through a 10" Red Fang, which is very efficient. I've been using the Therapy mostly through a Creamback M. Pretty similar volumes as the speaker efficiency difference offsets the output wattage gap.
Both amps are really cooking if you've got V (and Master on the Therapy) at 3 o'clock. Great tones.
