This is a clip I recorded using the Route 66 + Fulltone '69 Fuzz germanium along with 2 speakers from the new Marshall Vintage Modern & the new Jimi Hendrix JH100 Stack called the Celestion G12C. areyouexperienced.net/celestion_g12c_greenback_speakers.htmHere's the clip: areyouexperienced.net/music/drzroute66/66-69fuzz-1.mp3I also added later in the clip a Fulltone GT-500 clean boost to the fuzz and the Fulltone Deja 2 but mainly wanted to demo the Fuzz. It sounds great but I can't seem to get rid of the darn hum/buzz, not from the amp but what the fuzz adds. I tried using noise gates etc. but they suck too much of the tone away. I'd like to be able to record this kind of tone and somehow clean that hum/buzz off later. Anyone know how? I have Cakewalk Sonar with the noise filter plugins but don't know how to set the parameters. Is it high pass or something? I tried adjusting both low and high and either way seems to kill the sound once the hum begins to go away.

Thanks for the great clip. You're taking me back to my Jr. High days with these licks and all the inspiration my friends and I got from Jimi, Eric and the whole lot.
I have no easy answers for your noise problem, but it does remind me how I hated fuzz and wah pedals back then. Gags what noise and now that people pay big vintage prices for 'em, I scratch my head and think, "Why?"
I've got to ask - are your ears holding up to this?

Sounding pretty nice there. I see what you mean about that extra noise though - unfortunately I think that is going to be hard to eliminate if you're developing your gain from pedals.
Yeah, Jimi... brought back some memories for me too. Thanks.

hehe thanks guys. Those sounds have been playing in my head since the early 70's when I first heard them. As much as I hate the noise, nothing sounds as good as a fuzz (to my ears) with a clean circuit like the Route 66. I keep trying all the best overdrives and boost pedals on the market but the fuzz just has that organic sound that sings to my heart!

Thanks guys. Hey Lefty The Deja 2 sounds better than my SweetSound Ultra Vibe which I always thought sounded best but the only problem I'm having is getting long sustain whether I go into the Deja before the Fuzz or after. I just got one of those new Hendrix Fuzz units and that sounds great too on it's own but if I run it after the Deja as Fulltone recommends, I get the perfect Machine Gun tone but lose the long sustain. If I run into the Fuzz and then into the Deja the Fuzz is too compressed and the vibe sounds harsh. I've tried adding several boost type pedals before the vibe and then into the Fuzz to give it a push but that makes the vibe harsh again. Wish the 66 had a effects loop! For some reason it doesn't seem to like these 2 pedals though it sounds great at moderate levels. Just can't seem to get this right. The bias is perfect for sustain, using a GT-500, OCD or Fuzz by itself.
