Just got the first shipment of our new 12" speakers custom designed by Eminence! They sound great! This is the speaker that Dave Baker used in the last Z-28 demo so you can check it out here:

That Gretsch, and this amp, with that speaker sound like heaven. Nice demo for sure.

Color me interested...
You know, it's funny.. given the Z-28's supposed likeness to a brown Deluxe, I actually preferred the G12H-30 Anniversary with the Z-28 over a Weber 12F150--a very "American" speaker that I thought would fit better (these were compared real-time A/B with a CabBone switcher). Go figure! Well, that's to my ears, at least...

Does anyone know is these will be the standard speaker in certain amps or an option?

Does anyone know is these will be the standard speaker in certain amps or an option? They will be a no extra cost option to any cab or amp, standard in the Z Lux so far. I can say they sounded very nice in a MAZ , brought out a bit more of the Fender character in a 1X12 combo. Put them in a 2x12 open back cab with the new Oval back , one Z-12 and one H -30, a very warm tone and well balanced, touch less efficient so not as loud as a V-30 H30 mix. Brilliant and warm but not at all Upper middy , much smoother.
Will test with a pair of Z 12's as well as in Z Best.

Very cool! What's the Z-Lux? The Z-Lux is the re-release of the discontinued JAZ 20/40 ... a little reworked it seems and made into a lighter cab weighing in at 42 pounds for the 1x12 combo.

Very cool! What's the Z-Lux? Considering EZG-50 head and the Z-Best 2x12, but this new Z-12 speaker in a 2x12 or two 1x12 cabinets may be better match. However I don't see the Z-12 speaker as an option on the website nor do I see it on vendor's website. Available???

Any update on the availability of this? I'm thinkin about replacing a Creamback and this might be the trick. I see the Doc's note on it being slightly lower in volume than a V30….would that put it in the 98-99db range?

Doc told me it's not based on any Eminence speaker. That it's actually based on an old Utah.

Thanks Doc! It's amazing to see a company owner that stays involved with his customers like you are and actually reads forums! Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info Doc. Not many amp company owners are as accessible as you are and I (as well as many others on the forum I'm sure) appreciate that!

Can't speak for the new Z speaker, but I dumped several Celestions in favour of the Eminence Governor, and will not be going back! If teh new Z is half as good, it will be an EXCELLENT choice for the Therapy

Hi Doc, I really wish I could buy one new Dr Z 12" speakers, to play it with my Maz 8 and my Therapy, but I can't find any reseller. Can I order it directly from you? Detail that could matter: I live in Paris, France... Actually, I would like to order both a 12" speaker and a Z-Drive in a single order, to avoid too much shipping fees... ;-) Thanks for your help. Romain

I wouldn't expect the speaker to be on the website, but a call there should be able to get you one (they may not be in stock, but available from the Z shop for the dealer)

Cheers!

You can order the speaker directly from the Z site in the repairs window here in the US-IDK if they'll ship to Europe. And it goes great with the Therapy.

I'm not sure to understand, I'm sorry. You mean I can use the form of the repair page and write as a comment that I wish to buy a speaker?
