Am new to the world of Z. Just recently got a Rt. 66 in a trade and it's probably the best sounding amp I've ever heard. Such a unique tone.
However, I live in a 1 bedroom condo and it's so loud that I can only use it on low volumes with a brake lite. Still sounds really good, but I can only get an od sound with pedals.
Am wanting a Z that can get that natural drive at a volume I could casually talk over. Seems like the Mini and the Monza with master volume each do this.
I've never played them so I'm just relying on YouTube videos. What are your experiences with/ perceptions of both of these amps?

Monza with a Master Volume will be the most fun you've had with amp in your condo.

I've got both and I find myself using the Monza more and more.

Another vote for the Monza - I keep mine in the living room so I can play while the wife watches TV- great MV along with the guitar volume rolled, over, makes the amp from clean to mean!
BTW - welcome to the Forum! A lot of great info and people here!

The Monza is great at home or in the office. Or on stage...NOT IN THE SHOWER.

How do they compare in terms of volume? I know the Monza can get crazy quiet with the master volume. How does a fully attenuated Mini do?

Well, when I play at home, I actually run the mini's attenuator at zero and use a swart night light (a z air brake would work too) to quiet things down a little more if I'm going for natural overdrive. I've yet to play a monza, so I can't give a direct comparison for you.

I've got to say the Monza sounds better at a quieter level than the Mini. The Monza's post phase inverter master volume is very, very well done and it sounds really good at ridiculously tiny volume levels...The Monza is an awesome amp. And, when you turn it up, look out!

... natural drive at a volume I could casually talk over... Even fully attenuated, I found the Mini too loud (it was in excess of 90 db--I have a db meter). The Monza with the PPIMV is a must. I only play at home, straight into the amp (no pedals) and I have really enjoyed the tone of the Monza. I should also point out that I only play hard & heavy rock, so clean is a non-issue for me. Someone on the Z Forum (Limenine perhaps??) inspired me to get a swart nite (or night?) lite attenuator which I use with my Laney Lionheart (5 watts) with satisfactory results. This has me wondering about the swart with a Mini Z? At the same time, I do prefer the built in feature of the PPIMV. Don't mean to sound wishy-washy. They're both GREAT amps but if you just want plug 'n' play with no toys in between, my experience would suggest the master volume Monza

I thought my GAS was in remission - until i read this thread. I heard a Mini Z at an amp shop, yesterday, and was a bit shocked by how, good it sounded. After this thread though, I have to get some actual playing time through a Mini and a Monza.

I absolutely love my Mini Z. 9:00 on the volume is just pure bliss to play. Great dynamics, clean to dirty. I've tried to replicate the Mini sound and response with my Maz for a "louder version" and I've never been able to.
I've said it before on here...the Mini and the Maz are my only two Z amps. If you made me pick just one, it would be a REALLY hard decision!
