Here's the "official" Z listing of serial number dating.the "O" means 2004 build year, the "9" is the model (Mazerati) and the 181 means it was the 181st Mazerati ever built! In case you are wondering, it is a Version 2 Mazerati. Most Version 1 Ratis were built in 2001 and before. ztalk.proboards.com/thread/53340/dating-serial-numbers

Thanks! Looks like an 04'
I'm very impressed by this one, and it's blending well with my maz SR.
Is 04' considered a V2?

I do have a pic! What's the best way to insert a picture on the forum? You have to use a host site like photobucket.

I was also wondering if anyone knows the original red tolex z used? The cab under the Maz is rough red, but the Mazerati and the two tone cab have a different texture.
Mojotone has a few red options, British Style Red Elephant and British Style Red Levant both look similar to the Mazerati tolex.

Congrats on the Mazerati. I've had my V1 going on five years now. I own a Pro Jr for backup, fwiw. I'll never be without my Mazerati. Greatest amp ever built, IMHO. It stopped my tone search dead in her tracks.

I love the Vox-Style grill cloth - not a whole lot of those built! As I recall "some company" asked Doc to stop using that style grill cloth

I'm a sucker for the V** cloth as well, it always stands out!
Enug, I'm very happy with the Mazerati too, I don't know how it's slipped under my radar for so long! I'm running it with a set of blues now but thinking a gold/blue combo after reading some posts on here about folks really liking the golds with the Rati.

Firebird Musical Amplifiers, out of Hudson MA. I've been using them side by side with my Z's for a few years, they compliment one another very well.
Now to find the right speaker config for the Mazerati, I'll have to go read some more threads!

I have a V2 Mazerati and really enjoy the stock G12H-30 speaker that came with it. It seems to be a good match for the voicing of the amp.

Thanks!
I tried the h30's for around 6 month but never fell in love. I could see situations where they would be useful, but for some reason or another they didn't work for what I'am doing.
Right now I have a 212 open back with a pair of Celestion Blues, and another with a blue paired with a Celestion Elite 80. I'm back and fourth on a few options.
1.) Swapping the elite 80 for a gold 2.) Pulling out the blue and using two golds 3.) Going the Weber route.. 50watt silver bell, and 50watt blue bell (both alnico)

I've owned a couple of Mazeratis and here are my thoughts... In a 2/12 cab...G12H30 and a Gold...a Blue would probably work well too in place of the Gold. Weber alnico speakers sound awesome as well but i'll warn ya they will be quieter than what you're currently using.
