Hey y'all, I just picked up a second hand Maz 8 standard a couple days ago. I have a question about the G12H30 speaker that is in her. When I got it I noticed that it was plugged into the 8 ohm output of the amp but the speakers sticker says its 16 ohm. I have read that Z says its ok to do this it will just run the O/P tranny a little cooler. Do all maz 8 combos with a G12H30 come with a 16 ohm speaker? Or are some 8 ohms? I always match my impedance of my speakers with the amps output. So I switched it to the 16 ohm output. Is it a common practice on maz amps to plug the 16 ohm speaker into the 8 ohm output?

Needs to match, Stevie....
Always remember the speaker used should NEVER have lower resistance than the selected amp output resistance. If the speaker does not have enough resistance, the output tranny will run too hot and can short out from excessive heat.
Connecting your 16 ohm speaker to your amp's 8 ohm output jack will probably harm your tone more than your amp...still not a good practice.... Match 'em up!

My Maz8 came with a 16 ohm G12H. I personally always match impedance. And welcome aboard!

Welcome.
Mine's got a 16-ohm Cel Blue, plugged into the 16-ohm output jack as Doc intended.

Mine came with an 8 ohm G12H30. Always keep the speaker plugged into the same impedance as it is rated. It is best for the amp, it'll sound better and be louder too.

I guess it comes back to the old debate about what ohm speaker sounds better and that's why people get the two different ohm ratings. A 16 ohm that uses the full O/P tranny windings or the 8 Ohm that is tapped.
I got to jam out of the Maz 8 last night with a bunch of axes. Used an Asat classic, SRV strat, Les Paul antique, SG special. Needless to say the tone out of this little amp was awesome, but my favorite would have to be the SRV strat.

Maz + Strat = Tone

I've also got a similar question to this. My setup is as follows: Maz 8 (studio blue) -> 8 ohm -> brake light -> (out 1) 1x12 celestion blue -> (out 2) stock 2x10 z cab. My combo has the 4, 8 and 16 ohm outputs... Final note: +1 for strats STRAIGHT into the high input. I'm mostly a Les Paul guy but I was planning on selling my cab to help finance a 2004 standard strat. To nobody's surprise ended up keeping the cab and buying the guitar anyways. Desire for this tone was inspired by John Mayers "Where The Light Is" live album. I'm glad I took the financial hit and kept the cab to pair with the combo - they sound huge together Have a great day, friends!

If your 2x10 is 8 ohm and Blue is 8 ohm , then you have 2 options : If you run them in parallel use the 4 ohm jack , if in series 16 ohm jack.
