I came into an extra G12H30 recently. My Maz 8 has a Blue in it. I looked on the Celestion site and they are both rated at 100dB. The curves look different though with the upper mids emphasized on the G12H30. I'm thinking I might be able to get a little more perceived volume on the gig from the G12H30.
Anybody have both/tried both?
Disclaimer: I do like both of these speakers. I have both of them in my open back Z 2x !2" cabinet at the studio.
Thanks

Roscoe- I have used both. To my ears the H30 has more mids and low end definition/presence than the blue esp. in a live setting. That said, both speakers are loud but for live use I'd go with the 30 b/c I don't like the cone cry and absent booty of the Blue. I would also mention that I ran the dials w my H30 as such- V 9 oclock, T- 11, M-2, B-noon, 'verb noon, cut noon, master at 3 oclock. Give it a whirl you may like it. I used my Legacy (strat) with mine but at home it sounds great with my Tele. You'd probably dig it with your teles. Having that much mid/low boom out of an 8W amp is pretty cool. Now if I could meet musicians who can play within the volume limits of the 8 I'd be set.

Eric, I've got both speakers too, and I've gone back and forth a couple of times in my Maz 8...What Christopher says is true. Right now I've got the G12H30 in mine and I like it for the tight bass and like was said, the lack of cone cry. My Blue is sitting on the shelf feeling bad right now...I say go for it. Let us know what you hear. I just noticed you have them in a 2x12...how do you like it? Maybe I'll put my Blue in an open back Avatar cab that's not doing much right now. Do the Blue and the H30 play well in open back?

The Blue-G12H30 combo in the open back 2 x 12 Z cab was Brent's suggestion. It's great to have those 2 speakers in one cabinet at the studio. I usually mic just one speaker and it makes it the easiest thing on earth to just try the mic on one then try it on the other. Also works good for doubling parts. Mic one on one track, move the mic for the other. I like both of those speakers but I bet I'll like the G12H30 better in the MAZ 8. I used that amp on a few gigs w the Blue where it worked and a couple others where it was just about almost competitive enough. A little more out of it may be all I need.
