Hi guys,
I'm amazed by this amp I have for a few weeks. Can't tell enough superlatives about it. But, today, I may have found its (only?) weakness: it doesn't love my fuzz pedals as much as my Maz 8. Actually, both my Fuzz Face and my new Park Fuzz sound fizzy and harsh though the Therapy, while fat, wooly and juicy through the Maz. Have you guys noticed such a thing? What are the best fuzz boxes with this amp? I'm so sorry I've sold my Wampler Valvet fuzz just a few days before having the Therapy. I'm sure it would have been a great association...

you know this amp really has such a large pallet, I can see where this might happen. I would run the fuzz into it while it's just breaking up a little, then try the fuzz. Also, cut the highs some...it is slightly brilliant , at least until you break her in a while.

I echo Frankie's advise - you have to watch your settings with fuzz or it will just saturate out. Keep your V low and your MV high and that should sound great (I abandoned my fuzz face as I like the V high, and MV low-ish, and use an AC to hit the front end. Gigging, it gives that chewy rich fuzz-like tone I was looking for, but still cuts through and is articulate)

I replaced the 12AX7 in V1 with a 5751 to reduce the gain. It still has plenty gain, but it doesn't saturate as intensely especially with a fuzz pedal.

Thanks guys. A few options to try next week end (or the next, not so much time to play these days!) I'll let you know!
Cheers

I keep trying... but I still prefer my two fuzz pedals with my Maz 8. They sound fat, huge and don't attack my ears in treble territory. It's no big deal for me, cause I'm not that much into fuzz. With the Therapy, I'm more and more straight into the amp. No drive (or a touch of Lazy J Cruiser, a magic box), some way from time to time and that's it. I do not even use my delay lately and I don't miss reverb. Even the Brake Lite is not needed. Just you, your guitar and your amp (and fresh power tubes in my case, cause one has fall out - really hope it's just that, cause I don't have any sound coming out now... wait and see! )
