A little compression and verb, that's it...flat EQ, clean. I tried to hit some low, mid and high strings to show the speaker range. It's pretty full on the bottom and chimey on the top. What I couldn't get it to show (because of volume restraints) is the nice throaty mid range. This is a very loud speaker, btw. Goldie

Nice Bill.... What Amp was that...and overall did it stay together and sound pleasing to you? I'm sure you've run it through more paces than the clip here. For a frame of reference....do you think it would be a good combination with a MAZ Senior? Thanks, Mark

So is it...schweet in Cowtown and schveet in Yooston?? ;D
Hey Mark, I used the Stingray for the clip. It's real hard to capture a really good sound, at least given the lack of recording experience I have. Stick an SM 57 in front and go for it! At the myspace link below there are a couple recent videos I'm using the Gold/ Ray , which you can use for comparison. Of course keep in mind it was recorded with a small Canon camera, so take it with a grain of salt.
But yes, it sounds very good. Having owned a Maz Sr (and I want another one) it most certainly would sound great through one. I was hooked at first listen.

Cool sounding clip with the Ray. I'd be interested to see how the Gold compares with the Blues while using the Ray whenever someone gets both speakers. I've heard clips with the Weber Blue, but I've heard there is noticable difference between the Weber and Celestion Blues. Either way, great clip.

After hearing this clip from Madison I ordered up two Golds. So I'll have two Golds and two Blues here... Madison, this is a great clip - love the sounds you're getting and the dynamics. Very impressive.

Yeah, after the Stingray, its 2x12 with Blues, then the SRZ and now two Golds, my bank is busted. In fact, I wanted to buy a Z cab with them, but I don't want to wait that long...

Holy smokies! That was quite ... amazing. Beautiful clip. I have my gold on order, should be here in about 3 weeks. I also have a Rickenbacker 330 on order, so I can't wait to introduce Rickie and Goldie to Maz 38!

I'm thinking of ordering an Avatar Vintage 1X12 - maybe I'll have the Gold thrown in it - awesome

Sounds to me like the Gold would be the ultimate 1x12 combo speaker for something up to 50W.
Perfect for a 'Ray!
I love my Blue though in my 1x12-- I never need the extra headroom of the Gold.

For comparison purposes (Gold v Green), I put up a 30 second clip of the Stingray into a single Greenback, just above the Gold clip...waaaaay different from the Gold. I've always thought of the green as a rock speaker, but listen how tight, snappy and country it'll go with the right amp. Of course I should mention to be careful with this setup, a 25w speaker handling a 30w amp! The inspiration for this little clip comes courtesy of our gig last night, using the Stingray into a single greenback...I was quite pleased with the result. Greenback

Nice Bill! But if you don't mind me saying so, both sound great because of your playing. You bring it every time! Thanks for the clip!

Agreed! Beautiful nuances and textures in your playing in both of those clips Bill. The Gold sounds sweet, but you just convinced it was time to pick up a couple Greenbacks for an unloaded cab I have.
Thanks... that's 200 clams I wasn't planning on spending. ;D

Bill, my wife says you're not allowed to put up any more clips unless you send us the money in advance.
We're helpless victims here!
Of course, the real fallacy is that any amount of money could get my playing at Bill's level. Great playing, my friend.
