So I have been getting therapy from Charlene here this evening. For those of you who have just arrived, Charlene is my Therapy, SN 001, graced with Harvey's goodness. And boy does she give good therapy. Tonight I was playing around with the new Looper in my Eventide H9, and I got the idea to play a jam backing and run some lead work against it. I set up the Bent Top Custom to the neck pup with GV at about 4 and laid in the jam section of In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. Once that was playing I switched to the bridge humbucker and set to playing a bunch of those Dickie Betts licks that he made his signature sound. Holy crackers batman! This thing just amazes me every time I dial it in. No matter where I dial it! Here is Charlene before she left Harvey's shop on her way to Humbucker where I bought her:

Steve, it really pleases me that you of all people feel so strongly about this amp When I first joined the forum, you had probably the biggest range of Z amps anywhere, and were the absolute guru of this forum. You helped me learn TONS of stuff, and guided me through the avoidance of some expensive mistakes (and by ignoring you, I made some expensive mistakes, doh!). So when I was considering a 65amps Whiskey and the Doc sent me to Peach Guitars to play the Therapy prototype, I thought I'd died and gone to guitar amp heaven! I couldn't wait to get mine delivered (s/n 002 BTW ) and although it doesn't really matter what others think because I just loved this amp from day one, it is a delightful affirmation to have you feel much the same way....... and that Harvey valance looks GORGEOUS! Keep rocking' Steve!

Keep rocking' Steve! Gosh... I guess I've had a few amps this past decade or so. When I got here in 2005 I had already gone through a few dozen, making all sorts of mistakes and spending way too much getting there. I'm pleased some of my mistakes have helped others avoid them. I guess I do everything the hard way... This amp rivals any and all of them - smoking leads, fat rhythms, dynamic - you want it, it's got it. There are a few amps over the years that guitarists talk about and compare against. This is going to be one of them.

That's another whole thread, but the short version is all of my studio stuff sucks. I had it all going for a while and it was awesome, but one by one, things have been failing and I just haven't taken the time or expense to replace the missing pieces.

It wasn't so long ago that you would regularly post "you need to buy a Remedy". Is it now "you need to buy a Remedy and/or a Therapy"?

It wasn't so long ago that you would regularly post "you need to buy a Remedy". Is it now "you need to buy a Remedy and/or a Therapy"? kc I still have the Remedy, and have a very hard time thinking of retiring that one. But I haven't played it in quite a while... Still, with my Les Paul, I can get the EXACT sounds of the '60's tunes that I always wanted to get. Lately though, I've realized there are other tones that also tickle my fancy. The sounds I was getting last night with the Therapy fit that description.

I have been a member of the DR Z Forum for way over a year and been blessed to have own a few myself. I bought the Therapy without even hearing a sound clip. I bought it based on what Doc said it would be and then PCNS and Pete had a chance to "preview" the beast. All my previous Z's had been used (some in mint condition) but I wanted one brand new out of the box and I had just sold the Rem I had so I could take that jump from a financial stand. Again, based on Doc's descriptions and the rave reviews from PCNS and Pete I pulled the trigger and I have not looked back and I surely don't regret. I posted the other day asking the gigging guys how they go from Clean/dirt with the Therapy when the song called for it. Of course the hand dynamics were discussed, pedals, etc but the GV volume topic was brought up. I mentioned I did not feel the magic when I rolled the GV. Pete and Bentop mentioned the treble bleed mod for the guitar, others posted and backed up what the two gents had suggested. 2 days later I had done the mod on my Strat and Tele (took about 10 min per guitar) and holy cow. Now I can bring the GV to around 5 and not lose any dynamics at all. In fact, I hardly lose much volume but yield a cleaner signal. Coupled with the fact that the Therapy is so responsive to the hands dynamics I am in new territory. Prior to having the mod done I could only bring the GV down to say 8 and experience quality degradation. Simple solutuion that made a huge difference. MY point to all this is that simple mod has allowed me to appreciate and enjoy the Therapy even more. It is like new again, like a new door opened with this amp. Thanks PCNS, Pete, Doctrice and Bentop, your experience and willingness to share is what makes this forum a pleasant place to visit and gain knowledge as well as a place where friendships are built and a place to escape the daily race (thanks to Harvey's jokes). All of you make this place special. Thanks.... Bless you all and I wish you a fruitfull 2015 full of blessings with your families, jobs and with your Z's

Steve, your #001 Charlene is one beauty! I love the valence. What kind of wood is that? It's got fantastic grain. I bet the picture doesn't do it justice. Mine is plain jane red tolex, and bears serial #087. I haven't named it...I don't think I could settle on a name to describe that amp.

I am digging this amp more and more. I just got done recording 11 out of 12 songs for our new album with the Therapy. I had to use the Ghia on one of those because well...Ghia rocks! Hoping to have the whole thing done by Febuary and will post clips when those are available.

Hey Steve, we will have to set up a "play date" as I would love to hear Charlene in person. I just visited Emerald City Guitars today and they don't have one yet.

If you scroll back you'll see I had a hard time naming mine too - had a whole topic in which the other guys all made suggestions.

I saw the wood fronts on the humbucker site! They look so cool! Is it come in 2 pieces? there appears they all have a line down the middle? or is that part of the woods appearance?

I too can't get over how good this amp sounds and how easy to use it is. Played both a Strat and 335 over the weekend. Great clean. Great hard rock. Beautiful slide tone and sustain. I have a gig coming up that's on a stage with pro sound. At last, a chance to use the Therapy live
