I have a chance to trade a Fender American Standard Telecaster for a Carmen Ghia head. I'm very tempted after watching some video clips of this beast.
I already have a DR Z maz 18 head (so I figure I can use my speaker cab, z-verb , etc). Do these amps overlap too much? Or if you have the opportunity, what would you do?

I'd do it. I love the Ghia. To me it's much more unique than the 18 (have one also)

Everyone should have a Ghia, so I guess the answer is YES!

I have a Ghia and a Maz 18 NR. Love them both. Lately, my Ghia is my number one ... really easy to dial in a great sound!

Sounds like you'll get the better end of this deal. I'd do it.

I like me some Tele, but I LOVE me some Ghia! Plus, the Ghia and Maz 18 sound great together.

The trade deal fell through. The person with the amp asked me if I'd be interested in the trade. I told him yes but hadn't heard back from him for a couple of days. Found out today that he is out of state and won't be able to complete the deal.
Bummer...big time.

Looks like the trade may be back on. I sweetened the deal by adding $100 plus the guitar. I still think that's a fair deal. ?
Opinions?

The guitar is a 1997 model. The Ghia he believes is 2010.
edited: turns out it's a 2010 model not 2005 as previously stated.

You shouldn't have to add cash. I picked up a Ghia 1×12 combo for $800.

I think it's OK , but I wouldn't add a dime more. Am. Std. Strats are pretty common , I've seen them sell used for around $625 -$650.00 here locally.

I couldn't get the DR Z owner to do an even deal, so now I backed out.
Thanks for everyones input.

If you keep an eye on Reverb and our Buy/Sell/Trade you should be able to find a good deal on a Ghia. I bought my Ghia 1x10 combo with a Celestion Gold for $900 and Telefan said he got his $800. There are certainly deals out there.
