Me too! Me too!
Ok, as usual a butt load of disclaimers to start out the action...
I haven't played in a couple weeks, the weather is bad, my dog ate my homework, the boss says I'm lazy, and the wife wants to know why she stays married to me. All of that makes for a lame track, but you asked, so here it is.
I used one of the Guitar Center Guitarmagedon tracks because my Vegas software was already pointing to them and I didn't want to spend a bunch of time listening to the rest of the lame backing tracks I have here - one is as lame as the next, so why not keep using this one? (note: maybe my boss is right!)
The setup is my Grosh Retro Classic VT (Tele) with Fralin Blues, set to bridge pup throughout. Here's the order of connection:
Grosh > Demeter Compulator > BB Preamp > Stingray > Alnico Blues
I used one Rode NT1 in front of the amp, and a second across the room up high. I have those plugged into my Yamaha 01V96 and it's bus out to my Layla A/D setup on my computer. I tracked with Vegas and then cleaned up the tails with Sound Forge, and did the conversion to mp3 with Sound Forge. No effects.
The first two verses are dry - all pedals are passthrough. Starting with the third verse, I switch on the BB Preamp. At the turnaround, I switched off the BB and switched on the Compulator. You'll be able to tell I had already missed the turnaround because I was paying attention to the pedals.
BB was set with Volume at noon, gain at 1 o'clock, treble at 11 o'clock, bass at noon. Compulator was set with comp at 2 o'clock and volume at 3 o'clock, so it was pushing the preamp pretty hard right there.
Ok, here's the clip: StingrayBBPreamp.mp3
