Few days later: It's definitely a slinkier feel. I also didn't detect any lack of 'beef' in the sound. Sometimes I think the more we know about guitars the less we know about guitars! Ain't THAT the truth!

Looking at the way the strings come over the saddles, there's much less opportunity for breaking a string...when they come through the body, there's a much sharper bend in the string and then over the saddles.

I played a 2 set gig with this setup last night. To me maybe the most interesting part was that the Top Loader was not that different. It may play a little slinkier but there was no detectable difference in sound. No loss of bottom, no loss of sustain. I think I'd recommend the top loader pretty whole heartedly if you had a Telecaster that just played "Stiff". I can see no negatives to the setup. It was surprising.

Thanks for the gig report...I'm definitely going to consider this upgrade for my "stiff" tele.
