Had a couple hours with an empty house this weekend and decided to try out my bevy of speakers & cabs with the new Therapy. Here's what I've tried so far (all cabs are open-back except for the Scumback). Starting with the first two (ET65 & Gold), I directly A/B'd them (footswitched back & forth while playing using a Radial Cabbone) and then took the "winner" of each matchup and brought in the next contender:
• WGS ET65 • Celestion G12 Gold • Tone Tubby 40/40 Ceramic • Eminence Legend 151 (15") • Scumback J75 65W • Weber 10A125 & 10F150 (2×10")
First big surprise to me was that the ET65, a speaker I like quite a bit with a lot of amps, didn't really do it for me for this amp in this shootout (the Gold beat it). Second big surprise was that the Tone Tubby 40/40 Ceramic kicked all sorts of butt and reproduced all those wicked, muscular tones, lows to mids to highs, that the Therapy is capable of. The TT is one LOUD speaker (yes, louder than a Gold, and louder than the Emi 15"), but man it's got muscle.
Honorable mention goes to the Scumback J75-65W, which isn't surprising because these Scumbacks always sound good, period. This one vs. the TT was essentially a "draw." However, considering that the Scumback has that classic British crunch vs. the muscle of the TT... I sort of think that the Therapy shines better with a less British-sounding speaker.
Wish I had a Vintage 30 to compare in here, as this seems to be the Doc's pick with the Therapy, but for now I'm both surprised and impressed (by the TT just as much as the Therapy).

I've played my Therapy extensively with the Celestion Gold, quite a bit with the Cel G12H30, and a little bit (80 hrs or so) with the Celestion V-30. And, I have A/B/C'd them all in 1 x 12 Z cabs as well.
I have decided I prefer the Celestion V-30. And, as a bonus, since I'm playing it more, the V-30's finally beginning to break-in. The combination of the Therapy and the Celestion V-30 is certainly worth the wait....

I have the WGS Veteran 30 which is their take on the V30. It just sounds great, period. I really have no desire to try anything else. That may change a week from now but I doubt it.

I go back and forth between the Gold and the V30...Will probably keep the V30 in there and use the Gold for something else. The Gold has more lows and highs going on but can be a bit too over the top with the Therapy.

Dang, y'all... I really need to get me a Vintage (or Veteran) 30 now...
Anybody out there got a ceramic TT (or a Cannabis Rex)? Try it and let me know what you think. (It's okay if you say "it sounds like crap." We all have different ears.)

What is the 10" version of the V 30 called ? Celestion now has the G10 Vintage ("same voice coil design as the Vintage 30" says Celestion) and its predecessor was the Vintage 10. Now, if you're talking about WGS speakers... a lot of people wrongly assume that the 10" Veteran is the 10-in. version of the Veteran 30 (a Vintage 30 clone) but it's definitely not.

Thanks Mark for info on V30 12" that's the G10 Vintage little brother.
So what would be the 10" for WGS and others?

So what would be the 10" for WGS and others? The next closest I know of would be the Eminence Ramrod, which isn't exactly like a V30-type speaker but it's still awesome for high-gain rock. I have one in my Monza 1×10 combo and love it. Weber also offers a speaker called the "10V" which appears to be along the same lines as a V30. I've never tried it, though.

What about the new WGS Green Beret they came out with in 10" size? Wait Mark did I miss what speaker you like the best? I'd be afraid to put the Therapy through the WGS G.B. 10", unless there's multiple--it's a 20 W rated speaker. What speaker I liked best with the Therapy? The Tone Tubby 40/40 ceramic, which was in an open-back Avatar 1×12 cab. (Though, having given my ears a few days rest, I think I'll have to re-evaluate that versus the ET65, which I had assumed prior to the shootout would be my fave Therapy speaker. If my results change, I'll let you know.)
