Here's the same jam track that I did last week with the Keeley DS-1, except I did it with the SD-1 for comparison. As I said earlier, the DS1 has more gain and edge, while the SD1 is a bit more "vocal" in the mids and has a definite Tubescreamer quality. Clip was done with Strat and MAZ 38/Silver Bell speaker. Nice! I wanted the guitar to be louder in the mix though - all that great tone and it was not right in my face.

Nice tone, really, If U had played with an original Boss your tone would have been like "zzzzzzzzzzz" but Mr keeley does his job well. ...and your fingers too

Nice clip, Jayson. Definately a tube screamer-ish sound.

Nice chops Jason! I'd have to say I kind of prefer the SD-1 a little more - for my ears at least...

Nice chops Jason! I'd have to say I kind of prefer the SD-1 a little more - for my ears at least... Yeah, definitely different- but effective for different things. The SD-1 is a little more "classic," just good overdrive with a little more modern sizzle to it. The DS-1 works well for a commercial rock sound- like if you needed to get more of what I call the "LA Guitar sound." Steve Vai, Satch, little bit of Lukater....That type of thing. But you are right, the SD-1 is the most "useable" and versatile. The DS-1 doesn't always stay on my board, and is only on there when I need it for specific things. Glad I have the option, though. Thanks everybody for the nice words! J

Man Jayson, it's really hard to listen to just one of your clips.
Amazing playing on everything I listened to. The lead tone on that clip at the top felt a little too "smooth" for my ears/taste, but still sounded very nice. I tend to favor slightly rawer tones for blues, but take all this with a grain of salt cause I'm not known for having the best ears.
I really loved pretty much every other tone of yours I heard though. I think my favorites were the Prestige/Keeley TS 9/Slide playing, which was just thick and warm and oozed sustain, and the clean tone on one of the Weber Silver 10 demos, that I think was just guitar and Maz maybe. Very nice chord changes; that would make a great song. Now that I have a Z myself, I'm finally starting to hear how great a guitar and amp can sound without all kinds of pedals, but you seem to be able to get great tones with pedals or just going straight in.
Great playing!
And karma for the clips and suffering my overlong-posting style. ;D

Hey Sweet Cheeks, Where'd you finally settle with settings on that thang? Bare-buh-dare ;D ;D ;D Yeah, I'm pretty settled on the SD-1- Level 2:00, Tone 10:00, gain 12:00. The DS-1 is still a work in progress, but it typically ends up like this- For recording a lead part like what you heard on the soundclick page- Tone- 10:00, Level- 11:00, dist- 1 to 2:00 But live, I've found it works better with less gain and getting the initial bump from the BD-2. Live, the DS-1 usually has the gain rolled back to bout 11:00, with the level back at 10:00, tone still at 10:00. Call me today, and lets play some more phone tag!

Yeah, I'm pretty settled on the SD-1- Level 2:00, Tone 10:00, gain 12:00. That's quite a signal boost...you running the toggle up/down? The DS-1 is still a work in progress, but it typically ends up like this- For recording a lead part like what you heard on the soundclick page- Tone- 10:00, Level- 11:00, dist- 1 to 2:00 But live, I've found it works better with less gain and getting the initial bump from the BD-2. Live, the DS-1 usually has the gain rolled back to bout 11:00, with the level back at 10:00, tone still at 10:00. The live setting is near what I usually run...DS1 sounds amazing with mid-heavy amps. Don't like it w/the Sr (more scooped character) but do with the Jr and the R66 (esp the 66...yum!).
