Cross-post from the Stingray forum: A second wank with the PRS Singlecut into the Stingray. This time I used a Time Machine Boost to push the front end of the Stingray fairly significantly. Listening back, this track reminds me of my ex-aunt who talked so fast and with such short breaks between sentences that she once inhaled so hard she sucked up a barcolounger recliner and still never missed a beat.... PRS Singlecut (Fralin PAF's) > Time Machine Boost > Stingray > Airbrake > THD 2x12 > Rode NT1 > Alesis Studio 32 > Layla (PC) First half: Neck Pup, Second half: Bridge Pup Stingray: Cut: 4 Tone: 3 Volume: 10 Input: Hi Time Machine Boost: Modern: 2:30 o'clock RockOverBlues.mp3

"Thank you very much. I'll be here all week. Try the veal and don't forget to tip your wait staff...." ;D Seriously though - nice sounding clip. I'd be intersted in hearing a similar clip (amp settings) without the TMB, though. I bet the Stangray cranked sounds supreme!

Your wish is my command, only this time I used my Tele instead - see the thread "Stingray Twangkage"

Well the volume was maxed, and I had the boost set to 2:30 o'clock. However much that is, that's how much it was. YMMV! You can do the same thing with a good compressor or really any stomp box that has a volume control that is independent of the effect. You just have to get the signal bigger before it arrives at the Stingray and it overloads the input stage. You turn it till it sounds right... Naturally, if you use a box that adds distortion to do that, you get even more breakup, but the one I used, the Time Machine Boost - it ONLY boosts the signal in the mode I had it set. It boosts a bit more on the bottom than it does on the top actually.

Well, it sounded right on the edge and I like that when its needed...I have boosted mine, but not quite to that extent...I was using my barber direct drive to boost it, then a original marshall BB pedal for the drive...did not sound bad, but I did not "open" it up enough...I want to get a feel for this as I just bought a Z-28 and it has the same front end so one should work well on the other... In any event that particular sound, tone, is definatly a user for me, I don;t normally play that close to the edge sound wise, but it may be time to put a little of it in there now and then,,,its all about new sounds and ways to do the same things to make them different anyway....you know all those distored leads from the past were just ways to emulate the saxaphone that was no longer in the band anyway...and that has evolved into what we try to do today..... I am going to see what the Ray can do...just changed speakers to a blue and a GH12 from my MAZ so I am experimenting with that now, and have some NOS EF86's as well to try........lets see how it goes.!

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Thanks Peach! I forgot about this wank with the PRS - had me confused until I looked at the description I posed. Glad you like it.
