Yeah, more mindless noodling, but I don't have any decent backing tracks and I don't want to spend time looking for them when I could be playing! Look here for settings etc: 6545.htmTwo rather long tracks here: First is the KT-45 side of my amp with the Grosh Strat driving from the neck pickup. Two boxes in the chain: the RC Booster and the Speedster Chorus. See the web page above for settings: 45SideNeckPickup.mp3 (3 Megs) Second is the SRZ-65 side of my amp with the Grosh Strat driving from the Bridge pickup. Again, only one box in the chain: the RC Booster. See the web page above for settings: 65SideBridgePickup.mp3 (4.4 Megs) As you can tell I got a bit excited there - as you would expect with Utter Wankage! ;D

Excellent chops Benttop and I'm really digging the 65 side.

Great playing Steve. I can see why you're digging the 6545. I guess you only need to bring one amp now. The 65 side sounds monstrous!

Thanks guys. Yeah, the 65 side IS monstrous! I hooked the head to my 4x10 here and suddenly the KT-45 side got all chimey and has a very cool vib going. But the tens aren't quite a cool on the 65 side, so I may be on a speaker shopping quest next... Actually I think I can get that chime with the THD cab if I work at it a bit. Nothing like tens for chime though...

I guess you only need to bring one amp now. The 65 side sounds monstrous! Well, actually, I'm still planning on bringing two! The KT-45 will be used for loud high-headroom clean with my neck pickup, and the SRZ-65 will be used for my bridge pickup rock tone. But the Flexi-50 is still my main tone for distortion with the neck pickup - nothing else sounds quite like it. So I'll have three different amp sounds available from my pedal board - all I have to do is haul out two 2x12's, two heads, a pedal board and a clot of wire... ;D

Hey Steve, have you tried stacking the BB with the RC yet? I have the RC after the BB in the chain.

Hey Steve, have you tried stacking the BB with the RC yet? I have the RC after the BB in the chain. Actually I need to completely rethink my pedal board now that I have the 6545. I got the BB to get some distorted tones with the Mazerati (which I had set pretty clean). I'm thinking the SRZ-65 and Flexi will provide all the distortion I need, but I need to do some new testing. It's a bit of a hassle here - my studio is in the basement, and my main gear is in the garage upstairs, so if I want to do "real world" testing, I have to haul my gear down to the studio and set it up. But I play about every weekend here, so just about the time I get set up and a couple notes made, it's time to pack it back up the stairs! I solved all that with the Flexi by purchasing a whole second setup - Flexi-50 and 2x12 just for the studio! That has REALLY saved my back. But now here I am thinking on hauling out both of my THD 2x12's... (sigh) it never ends, does it? I'm thinking I need a Z cab for this 6545 - YEAH, THAT'S THE TICKET!

Dude! You're too fussy! Just get a Bandit and a Boss Metal Zone! It's all in the fingers, I hear!

Don't think I haven't been tempted! ;D I have a Fender Blues Jr. here that I take to band practice, and it has to be the best sounding Fender I've ever owned. And at 15 watts, it has some real authority! For a while I considered just getting another one and ganging them together. Two of those are a lot lighter than the two 2x12's and two heads I'm contemplating taking out right now!

It was CRANKED and smokin' But it was NOT the Ghia.

Blues JR you say??? Right on! I have one too and the secret weapon is the FAT switch (and the "non-typical Fender" EL84 power amp section). It's tone belies it's size.
Considering it sits in a room w/ 3 blackface Fenders and my beloved MAZ 18JR, it still manages to get stares of disbelief when one of my buddies plugs into it for some jamming. If Fender would only put it in a larger, sturdier cabinet they'd have one smokin little amp for an entry-level price point.

Geeez, I must be losing it. I replied with the intention of complimenting benttop on his tone, and got completely sidetracked by tele62 and the Blues JR thread. As your host, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to Short Attention Span Theater... Anyhow, I digress: benttop, that 6545 sounds great! I've always been a bit curious about this amp. It seems like the best "bang for the buck" of all of the Z amps, considering the twist on a conventional 2 channel amp by employing basically a "2-amps-in-1 chassis" concept.
Good stuff!

Check the other wank I just posted too - that SRZ-65 is going to be happy in my house! Now I'm looking at my calendar to see when I can get this beast to work!

Late thread to the party here, but new member, so ... Great playing, great tone, especially on "Money For Nothing". Everyone says Z amps are so articulate ( very true ) that they are "unforgiving" and expose poor playing ... No signs of "indecent exposure" here. Okay, Mr. Benttop; if I end up buying a 6545 now, at least I know who's ( partially ) to blame!

Still haven't settled on a speaker setup for this amp, but I'm hoping when my 2x12 with Blues comes that I'll get to do some low volume testing to get to my answer. I appreciate your comments!
