A little busy tonight, but just wanted to dust off my old account and let the world know that I'm rejoining the Z family tomorrow and picking up a Ray. Very stoked, and more details to come!

Thanks all! Now that I'm not frantically running around I can add a lititle more info. I was perusing the website of my local music store amd saw they'd taken in both a Remedy and a Ray on trade. I'm a huge plexi fan, so I went in wanting to try the Remedy. As used Zs are a rare sight here in Ottawa, it was gone by the time I made it to the shop. Not to let a trip go to waste, I decided to plug into the Ray. One note in and I knew I was in for something special. After 5 minutes of tinkering around, the store manager wandered into the back to see what amp I was playing. He commented as I was leaving that it sounded ridiculously good. I knew that was a sign...
It's a slightly older model I think, as it isn't equipped with an IEC power outlet. I'll note the serial number next time I jam (it's already at my space).
I got the head and a 112 cab (stock loaded with a V30, but that may change). Cab selection around here can be pretty limited sometimes, but I thought this one sounded more balanced than the 210 and Z-best - at least for my playing style.
Anyway, I'll have more to report in the coming weeks as I get to know it a little better.
Glad to be back. I'll try not to be such a stranger!

I used to have a Maz, but I got rid of it when I decided to go back to a channel switcher. Now I've built a new board, so a killer clean tone was my goal this time around.

If you try another speaker either the Gold or Creamback sound great! Beat me too it! I use a creamback. 97db...but still lots of mids. (which you need with the 'ray)

I finally had a chance to give the Ray a test at band practice last night. Holy cow is all I can say. Within the first three notes I played I could see the grin on my drummer's face. We played a mix of covers from the 60s to current, and the Ray put out tones for all of them like I've never heard.
After we finished jamming my drummer said "I don't want to speak I'll of your other amps, but..." followed by a hearty laugh.
I'd say I made the right choice with this one, and I definitely won't be letting this Z get out of my hands!
