ORIGINALLY POSTED AS A QUESTION NOW IT'S HERE FOR ALL TO KNOW WHEN THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. SWAPPED OUT THE TUBES AND NO MORE NOISE. ==================================================================================== I was trying to make a video and this happened. You can clearly hear the noise in the video. First thing I did was unplug from the amp and the noise continued even without any input signal.

could it be the connection to the speaker? like the speaker cable from head to speaker. I was doing some trouble shooting on my cabs today and when I moved the speaker cable wires it made a very similar sound.
I'm just trying to think of something besides tubes as I would have first suspected tubes as well.

I suspect the tubes (or valves as us Brits quaintly call them). Substitute each one in turn, and the culprit will be found; as you'd unplugged, and the noise persisted, it seems less likely to have been a speaker connection. My Lonestar Special made a similar noise when the rectifier tube was saying goodbye.

I would of thought the rectifier VALVE if I was put on the spot to 51d.

Sounds like a power (output) tube is giving up.

^^^^^^
+ 1 on the output tube failing. Unfortunately a very familiar sound on my 1974x.

thanks all. i just remembered that i'd put some older power tubes in the amp before my last gig and they are obviously a little TOO old.

Sounds like a power (output) tube is giving up. Agree ^^ Just had a 6V6 go in my Remedy - sounded very similar. Turned the lights out & pulled the shades. It was easy to see which tube was the culprit in the dark. Replaced tube & all is well.

I'm pretty sure it's because you have your phone set to vertical rather than horizontal in video mode.

Proves a point about carrying pre/power/rectifier spares to rehearsals and gigs - which I invariably manage to forget to do. Not once or twice, but very often; OK, actually always, now I think about it. But since both my main rigs were both rained on (long story), I've mended my ways and always carry spares with me...

Ian... are you sure your not cutting a little cheese while sitting on it! Those vapors have been known to mess with power tubes!

Mine kept blowing fuses....Changed out the Power tubes as suggested by DR. Z and all is good... Strange that first the Rectifier went out then the power tubes...but all is good now that I changed them...It would blow the fuse as soon as I hit the power on switch....
