Just picked this up off E-Bay. This is what I had to sell the JAZ 20/40 to purchase. Should be here sometime week after next. I'll post more pics when it gets here.

Oh, man.. I totally saw that on my "saved searches" result, but skipped looking at it. Although, if I had realized it was S/N #001 the only thing I would've done is be like, "Hey--Mike!!!" But I guess you found it anyway, so there we go. To summarize, I've contributed absolutely nothing here. BUUUT.. nice score, Mike!!

Nice, Mike. Was that the one from TX? I recall seeing one posted on eBay a month or two ago.

No - the guy from Texas wanted some ungodly amount for his amps (he actually had two! He wanted $3,000 for his. He also has a full stack Marshall Jubilee that he has up for sale for $9,000 - more than twice the highest asking price I've seen! Besides that, his SRZ Is #11

I saw this one on ebay as well but didn't know it was #1. Didn't need to try to buy another amp though, especially since I have a SRZ LE. Drew has one of these RC amps and we A/B tested it with my LE into the same cab and they are different amps. I expected them to sound very similar but that is not the case. Seems the reverb in the circuit does make a big difference. To me the RC has a much warmer tone and gain, though less gain than the LE. The LE seems to be more like a Marshall JCM, a brighter amp with plenty of gain on tap. So with such differences, it is good to collect both. Right Mike? Funny, my two "rock amps" right now are the SRZ LE and a Marshall Jubilee.

That's so cool Mike! Nice looking front and #1 is special, probably not as special as #7 but I might be biased. Congratulations on your newest gem and am so glad it's going to a great home.

WOW MIKE!!!! I thought butch mikes brother in law had the #001 RC? I would bet all of my amps that the RC-RH line of original SRZ's are all very different sounding than the modern and LE Versions, Yes the Reverb does make a huge tonal difference. I recently found on my SRZ cranking the Mids past 6 it becomes a BEAST!!!! LIke creamier Mids and more pronounced VOLUME and CRUNCH without the Gain being moved? Any Idea the reasoning for this, not to crash your thread CONGRATS on the Killer FIND!!!!!!!

Probably did Frankie - it was Breeze's amp (or so I have been told). It is the first Reverb Combo though, not the first SRZ 65. It was built in Doc's basement

Mine also has a treble boost on the back (supposedly the only one Doc built with it). So it really changes the character of the amp when engaged!

Mine also has a treble boost on the back (supposedly the only one Doc built with it). So it really changes the character of the amp when engaged! Interesting, it could just be me but I run the mid at 0 or just barely above. When I bring up the mids the break up is not what I call smooth and creamy. I bring down the mids and it's all good tone. Maybe I should try some different tubes or it could be that I run the volume control low for an 800 type amp but I get nice breakup at that setting? I'm running my volume at 9:00, Master 2:00-4:00 inside/outside, Treble 1:00, Bass 8:00 to 10:00 inside/outside, Mids off, presence 9:00 and reverb 8:00. The cab is a closed back offset slant 2x12 with G12-65 and G12M-75 Creamback speakers, big thud factor. Mike Sorry to hijack your thread.

That amp is over 25 years old and been played on a zillion shows. His is the first SRZ combo , but not the first SRZ REVERB COMBO, my good friend Mike now has that one.
