Arf, selling my Bacchus is the last thing between me and my Therapy! I love this guitar, but nowadays I look at it as an obstruction.

I've changed my mind... I place my order in black! Black Therapy head and black and salt n pepper 1x12 cab with Celestion V30 (I'm trusting you guys). For you Europeans readers, know that Humbucker Music has some 230V European Dr Z. I'm really excited. I'll keep both my Maz 8 (did I tell you how much I love this amp?) and the Therapy for the rest of the year and then I'll decide (but I don't have more than a few hours to spend to play the guitar each week, so I doubt two amps can be justified...) I really want to try the Therapy with my 30W Scumback Scumnico, which I really like (and I still have my G12H30, so I'll try 3 speakers with both Maz and Therapy; lots of fun to come!) I'll let know! Thank you for your help on this topic fellows!

You're going to want to keep both.

That could be. And, as my first Z and my first "WTF" amp, I would have really hard time selling the Maz. I plan to move in a few months for a bigger house, so I may keep both amps. 2 amps, 2 cabs, 2 guitars... That sounds quite good me, doesn't it?

What a pleasure to rename this topic! But it's so long to wait for my Therapy to come. Wire transfers from Europe to US can be very, very long... My amp is not even shipped yet!

I have a hard time waiting for things to be shipped from the US and I'm only a few kilometers away from the border so I can only imagine how aggravating the wait must be for you. Good luck with the wait and try not to drive yourself crazy in the interim. And congratulations!

Actually, I keep wondering "How could my strat sound better than THAT?" each time I plug it into my Maz 8, so it helps to be patient.

I've got a Maz 8 and a Mini-Z and I love 'em both. But today I went down to Motor City Guitars and played a bunch of Z amps. I had pretty much decided I REALLY like the Therapy before I went and I found out when I got there that I do in fact REALLY LIKE THE THERAPY. So much that I have a red one and a matching 1x12 (Creamback M) in the shopping cart right now. I'm just one tiny bit away from ordering it. I'd ask you to talk me out of it but we all know what's good for me, now, don't we??? I'm going to try to wait for the morning... The only issue is the speaker choice, but I do have a Vintage 30, an EVM12L, and a couple of G12H30's laying around, so I think the Creamback is the one. Davo

Most guys reject their V30's based on an example that is not fully broken in. Until it breaks in, it sounds pretty awful. Once it does break in, it sounds pretty great. Take the time to get it there before you decide. Yep!

Oh boy, you're more lucky than I am: my wire transfer is still on hold (how can a bank be so long to transfer money from one to another? Money takes a few hours to travel trough Europe, but it takes weeks to cross the Atlantic Ocean. May be money can't swim?) Pull the trigger Davo... and let me know how you feel between Maz 8 (god that amp sounds good to my ears) and Therapy. Mine is black, goes with a V30 cabinet... and is waiting for daddy for about 10 long days!

My Therapy is getting shipped tomorrow! That would have been long, but I'm sure it worth it, does it?

Yes I am confident too! So now I'm a single guitar man, but I thank I'll keep both the Maz and the Therapy. It will give me 2 amps but also 2 speakers, and that's quite a few options!

Easyrom: I'm so happy for you! I may get the funds to take my Therapy off layaway today, so I might get mine next week. What an amp. I think I'm going to keep my Maz 8 too, but after playing the Therapy last week, I'm not sure...the Therapy absolutely rules.

The Therapy is an incredible sounding amp I am still blown away with it after having it about a month but keep those MAZ amps guys! I still have my MAZ Jr nr and having both gives so many great options. They are very different from one another so it makes them the perfect 2 Zs to own. Hope you two get your Therapys soon!

I will also add that yes the Therapy does rule and even after owning it for only a month if I could only keep one amp it would be the Therapy. Thanfully though I'm not in that situation.

Waou. Not got a lot of time, but waou. Straight into the amp. Even my wife, who can never tell the difference between guitars or pedals, immediately said it. "It's more round, it's bigger". That's it! I was afraid about V30 being harsh, but I'm more than pleased. Knowing that it will come better and better is a wonderful thought. I gave my Scumback a very quick try, and it shines with the Therapy, but I can not really compare with the V30, cause the Scum was in the open Maz 8 combo, while the V30 is in the 112 cab, closed for now. Today its poker day. But tomorrow... ;-) Really happy player here, thanks for your help guys!

COngrats on a great amp cab combo! Your wifey hit the nail on the head huh? In my opinion, if you take the back (middle panel) off that cab, the speaker will move more. (Break in faster) After it's broken in, then put the back on to see what you like best. Again congrats AND........photo's or it didn't happen!

Amazing sunday afternoon, alone with both my Maz and my new Therapy. What an amp! Yes I'll make a few photos, even if it looks exactly like any other black Therapy with black cab (except maybe the salt and pepper cloth! ) It sounds just huge. I plugged my overdrive (Lazy J Cruiser) and my wah... but I stayed straight into the amp most of the time. Just swapped between Scumback Scumnico (still in the Maz) and new cab in v30. I couldn't choose which one I prefer right now. I'll take my time. I was so pleased and amazed by the amp itself that I couldn't tell what came from the amp and what came from the speaker (or the cab, cause that big 112 closed could be the reason I was petrified by this huge but clear bottom end). I really love my Maz 8 for years. It was the best amplifier I had... until now. I have to admit that yours words about the Therapy are absolutely true. It is a wonderful guitar amp, the best I have heard. I'm certain this one will have a special place in the Dr Z line in the next years (congratulations Doc!) I didn't feel any need of delay, and didn't miss the reverb of the Maz. Didn't miss the cut control neither (so I have 2 knobs less, I appreciate), nor the eq bypass boost or the low input. It is simpler, but it sounds even better to me. Cleans at low volume could be compared between Therapy and Maz (especially in triode mode), even if the Therapy has more 3D feel and bottom and roundness (and headroom of course). But you can get pretty cleans from the Maz as well. Differences are more and more spectacular in light crunch or big crunch, but you all already know that better than I do! What a juicy and tasteful and addictive "not so clean" sound! Well, my english is what it is... and I'm exhausted, but I just wanted to share my joy to play such a fantastic piece of gear, with you. And I can tell the more skeptical that attenuation is not needed. I'll go a little bit further on my tests with my BrakeLite (I have one in my Maz 8 and a second one I bought for the Therapy, but I don't know yet if I will install it inside my cab as I planned to). Time to go to sleep here in Paris. Good night fellows! And thanks again!

Your english is much better than my French so as we would say out here in the wild wild US west "Yeehaw pardner! Ride that pony with a big old western smile". Glad you are liking the Therapy. Congratulations on a great amp.
