For now at least. God it's been hard time decision, but I've just made it. I was just about ordering it. But my Maz 8 is giving me so much pleasure I decide to keep raisonable and humble and resist the Therapy call. But it's not easy, cause I'm really a Dr Z amps fan and this one in particular seems a extraordinary amp! I even sold a guitar for that amp, but that's for the best. A Les Paul, a strat and my Maz plus 3 or 4 pedals is way more than I need to be a living room rock star every time I have a few hours free @home (thanks I have such nice -or deaf- neighboors! ) I'll keep reading you all guys. This forum has something special to it. More passionated and respectfull than a few. Cheers!

Wise man! It's too easy to get caught up in the new amp frenzy and then regret it later! That nearly happened to me with the Antidote, but thankfully I resisted....... and now I have the perfect amp, for me - the Therapy! Enjoy that Maz8

The MAZ 8 is superb.
The Therapy begs to be turned up even with its wonderful master volume, so it would be hard to keep it leashed down for home use.

The MAZ 8 seems like one of the coolest amps out on the market to me. So you've done good as it is. It is hard not to be swept away in all the love of the Therapy.

I have one amp that I like to use as a rotational spot so I can afford to try other amps. The Ghia and that Z28 are what hold the fort down for me. So that leaves the Remedy in that spot (use to be the Antidote). But the versitity (and great drive) of the EQ bypass really makes me want to keep it. So I decided to order the Therapy before I sold off one of the others. Or that's at least what I tell the wife!

I have the same system sorta, but once I get stuff it mostly starts getting traded instead of selling and then I usually trade myself into a corner and don't have anything else to trade. That's where money helps start the machine going again. I'm trying to stick a monkey wrench in that wheel, but on the other hand having stuff move thru my hands and ears is really teaching me what I like and don't like about guitars and amp tones; as well as speakers. As I figure it out more it gets a little easier to part ways with things that just don't fit and allows me dig deeper into the things that I do love and that do fit. One thing I love about Z's is how in touch they are with every aspect of the chain and that is really helping me to understand how those aspects effect the final tone.

I've had a few amps since I have the Maz, and they're all gone. But I'm quite sure I would want to keep both the Maz ans the Therapy if I had both! And that wouldn't fit in my living room!

Well it's time to move then. You are sick in the head Steve You're right, but it's still messed up dude. Easyrom's next post will be...." Just hit the buy now button at 'insert favorite Z dealer here' can't wait for it to ship. They said 4-6 weeks wait time so I'll have to close on my new house before that so I can give them my new address. Wish me luck"

Wait time is more like 3-months here in France (yes it is). So I have time to find a new place. And may be a new wife though?

Ah just couple it with your favorite speaker No no no - Obviously he meant using it with a 2x10 or 2x12, but of course your right on when suggesting they be 'his favorite'. After a little more of all this blabbering about the new Z, I think we'll all need group Therapy I'm sorry for my blatant abuse of the word Therapy.

Ok fellows, now I think I need your help and advice. I'm torturing myself for a few months: this Therapy appears to be an amp (the amp?) I would love, but I can't try it here in Paris. I've been just about to order it a few times... but had the sensation to do wrong. Here's my situation : - I play alone, at home only (for now, hope I'll be able to play in a band soon) - My neighbors are quite cool. They never complain, even if I play my Maz 8 quite loud: only 1 Brake Lite click on triode mode and 2 on pentode mode (sometimes 3 when I really want to push it at the highest gain) - I love my Maz 8, the best amp I've had so far, but I could stand more thickness, smoothness and roundness to my sound. - I've sold a few guitars and would be happy with just my Strat and a single amp if they drive me to sonic heaven... I wonder if such a 35W amp would have any sense in my situation. Would I really have more roundness and juice (and pleasure) I already have with my beloved Maz 8? I want to make my decision this week. It's been too long I 'm looking at it, I'm sick with this Therapy! Plus, I've seen this Duesenberg Black Caribou which I find gorgeous, so I'm wondering, should I go with the Therapy or be set with my Maz and have a second guitar to complete my Strat?

The Maz8 is a wonderful amp for sure and has all that EL84 chime and stuff going on....... the Therapy on the other hand is thicker, richer, warmer, MUCH more harmonically rich and has many more than one sweet spot! You want clean, it will give you big, rich cleans that will make that Strat sound more "Strat" than any amp you've ever played! You want mean, raunchy, singing sustain, crunchy, growl and bite - well the Therapy will give you that in ways no Maz ever could......... And as for 35W - this thing has the BEST MV I've ever used, so if your neighbours are happy with a loud Maz8, you have no volumes issues with a Therapy, that's for sure! Okay, I am VERY biased, and I make no apology - I have owned and loved a Maz18 (my first ever Z amp, and my only one for about 18 months), and I traded it at the time. I loved it, but don't regret the trade. I have been through a Monza, a Carmen Ghia, a Remedy and a Z28 (I stil lhave the Z28). However, this Therapy is going nowhere, EVER! Best damn amp I have ever played, bar none! It's that simple...........

Would I really have more roundness and juice (and pleasure) I already have with my beloved Maz 8? YES!.... I have been in a similar situation. I got a Maz 8 when they first came out. Another fine amp from the good Dr! However, it is what it is...a great studio, low volume gig situation amp. Just what it was designed for. Even at home, I found myself wanting more girth/thickness and thump/volume. I traded it for a Maz Jr and have been happy with my grab-n-go amp that I could actually use for ANY gig. The Therapy, on the other hand, is the smoothest, warm/fat, most controllable/versatile, comfortable amp I've ever played. I'm not giging much right now, and is the ultimate home amp for me. I like an amp I can use anywhere. You'll be all set for home use to the gig's you'll be playing soon. The Therapy does likes to be turned up, but what amp doesn't? But it sounds great at low volumes too. Place your order. Stop torturing yourself. Therapy is the answer.

Thank you guys! Exactly what I like to read;) I can't complain about reserved or mixed opinions... The Duesenber Caribou will have to wait. I just finalize the sell of my Bacchus in the next days and order my Therapy + V30 1x12 cabinet. Excited!

My Therapy will be here tomorrow. I will be able to provide some comparisons soon. Did you go with the V30? I will follow the good Doctor's advice on this one and order my cab loaded with it, but I've rarely such a loved or hated speaker! Can read really bad reviews on the V30, sounding thin and nasal...

Most guys reject their V30's based on an example that is not fully broken in. Until it breaks in, it sounds pretty awful. Once it does break in, it sounds pretty great. Take the time to get it there before you decide.

I still may buy a Duesenberg Caribou Black with Bigsby in a year or two (what a beauty! And P90 + hum bucker + Bigsby, what a great way to complete a single Stratocaster)... But for now you really helped me make my decision, thank you. Now I'm just waiting for my guitar to be sold and I jump on my order. It will be blond, of course.
