Hi,
I have at KT-45 and a Z-28. The doc says the KT-45 should have a 16 ohm speaker if I'm going to run it at just 1x12. Why is the Z-28 running 4 ohms in its factory 4x10 cab?
I know there are tonal variations at different impedances, but why would one be better than another? If the amp can run 4, 8, 16 ohms, why choose one over the other?
Thanks for the help,
swampcooler

Hi guys, I realize this is a really old thread. But in talking with Dave at Avatar Speakers, he told me that the hi-fi aficionados and true audiophiles prefer running their amps at 16 ohms. Evidently, that gets all of the windings in your transformers working, which makes for a fuller, sweeter tone.
Hope this helps, Brad
