Hi guys,
I'm still learning more about amps every day, so thanks a bunch for my continuing education. I have a question regarding re-biasing. I know that you don't need to re-bias with preamp tube swaps. And I know you don't need to re-bias with power tube swaps in cathode-biased amps. But is it recommended or necessary to re-bias when all I'm doing is swapping the rectifier tube?
Thanks! Brad

No need to do anything when changing rectifiers even if you go to different brands or even different types such as going from a 5AR4 to a 5V4 as one example.

Awesome! Thanks so much, gents. Even though I should get used to it, I'm still amazed how generous my Z Bros are with helpful tips and info. A little K, coming your way. I'm not going to change the type of tube. I've just been shopping for a nice NOS GZ34 for my Route 66. It came with a Sovtek, and I've been reading how much better the old tubes are than the new production ones. My Stingray came with a Dario Miniwatt, so I'm just planning on leaving that one alone, unless someone offers a compelling reason to change it. I AM planning on picking up a Weber Copper Cap just to keep on hand as a spare though. Thanks again! bs
