for the pre-amp? Are TELEFUNKEN good tubes?
I heard that pre-amp tubes last years...

If the pre-amp section in your amp was designed around 12AX7/ECC83 tubes in positions V1 V2 or V3 or so - you can use any good brand of those tubes. You usually don't talk about "matched" pairs as regards pre-amp tubes. When you use said 12AX7 tube as a phase inverter tube - the two triode halves should be "balanced". This means both triode-halves in the tube should trace the same or very close to. Telefunken's is generally regarded as the best tubes there is - they may not be proper for use in guitar amplifiers in all cases. Depends on what you are after soundwise - this is a taste thing, soo.... ( I mention 12AX7 tubes simply because they are quite common )Cheers: Dixiechicken!
