Has anyone tried the new reissue Mullard El84 tubes? I know it hard to keep up on all the new tubes out there but if someone has experience with these it would be great. Myles do you have any scoop on these?

I have some. They seem alright. I don't see them being better than the GTs though. They do cost a few bucks more but are still reasonably priced.

I have a matched pair of JJ's that I'll give you a SMOKING deal on. I got these because I thought I was going to have a Trainwreck Express clone built. I finally had a Liverpool clone built, so I bought a matched quad for that amp. Send me a PM if interested. Thanks, Brad

I've tried them in several amps and rather like them for new production. They seem slightly darker than JJ's to me. For new production I think the Tung Sol 12AX7 is hard to beat and remain my favorite new production 12AX7.
In the end, most, if not all NOS 12AX7 sound best.

Myles do you have any scoop on these? I have a quad of these in my 1992 AC30 Reissue, and they sound pretty good. They do seem to be a bit darker than the JJ's though. Perhaps the bottom end is a bit more flabby. I will put a new set of JJ's in soon, and I will let you know how the two compare.

I have a pair of the Mullard EL84s coming today for my Blues Jr... will replace JJs. So I'll be able to do a before & after (the JJs aren't worn out, but I'm having volume fluctuation problems, and want to make sure it's not tubes before going to a tech.)

Typically, volume fluctuations are a power tube problem. Curious as to the sonic differences between the 2 tubes.

Well, sonically... can't hear a whole lot of difference, but we're talking a Blues Jr. here. They sound a bit...cleaner...than the JJs they replaced, but that's just a tube-rating issue. The JJ's were GTEL84S's rated at 6 (GT's own "hardenss rating"), the Mullards were rated at 33... which is the same system Eurotubes uses, I believe.
Without being nitpicky, the JJs or Mullards will do just fine & sound good. I'd take either over Sovteks anyday. Actually, I read that the Mullard RI 12AX7s are really just "hand-selected Sovtek 12AX7LPS", so I wonder if the Mullard EL84 is also "just a Sovtek"? Myles???

It is a bit hard to use a blues jr. to compare EL84s as they are one of the very few fixed bias class A/B amps to use EL84 tubes (as they were cheaper for Fender to use than 6V6 tubes). So ... you have a fixed bias setup there so be sure to check the bias on this amp as it can make a very big difference when things are not right on these amps.
