With pedals and without. Really interesting how similar they are in terms of the quality of the breakup. The hair on the '28 is a bit finer, if that makes sense, and the focus is shifted a bit more to the upper mids vs the Therapy's throatier sound. Both are gorgeous amps, but I think the MV and the 3-band tone stack give the Therapy the edge in terms of versatility. The Therapy's a bit spongier at the front end, with a smoother attack, vs the slightly stiffer '28. Never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually thinking of selling my Z-28--or maybe trading for an M-12.

Jon, Thanks for the review! This amp is killin' me cause I can only afford one right now, meaning I would have to sell the Z-28. I'll bet the price of a used Z-28 has dropped since the introduction of the Therapy

Maybe I should wait it out--the '28 has a way of coming back into fashion.

I am facing similar emotions...love the Z 28 but it isn't getting much love lately
