So I was messing around with tubes and speaker swapping with my Maz8. I pulled the reverb unit to make things easier. Of course , I just had to open the reverb bag and pull the tank. I was surprised to find this: A cut-in-half Prescription ES face plate - with the protective plastic still on it!! Could this be the secret as to why this 8 watter sounds so huge?

Frank - those where the shims to keep the tank level. You verb will suck now. It will work in Triode but not Pentode so put them back immediately!
Nice find though! I wonder what the real story is behind those?

Maybe , since they're aluminum , they were to help shield the tank bottom? There was cardboard taped to the the open side of the tank and these were on that side. I left them out , as I did an "Eddie shielding job" on the tank with copper shielding tape. Wonder what I could get for 'em on the BST

Wow, that's cool. I only found a $300 bill in my reverb bag.

Mine had some old metal sheeting from the actual plates used for the plate reverb on the Beatles White Album. I tossed them and replaced them with pieces of cardboard covered with tin foil.

It does seem a creative way to use 'old' parts

Cool find. I bought a cardboard box once that had vintage guitar parts in it.

Trying to think of something creative to do with 'em. Maybe cut the one with "Rx Dr.Z " down and make a key fob??
