Hi everyone.
I have bought tubes from a few places online with mixed results. I checked out the kac nos site. although it looks great and I see afew things on there I will get, I am really looking for suggestions for current (no pun intended) production stuff.
also, does anyone have thoughts onthe Copper Cap rectifier from weber. I have one in an old super reverb that I like.
thanks in advance,
Bryan

"Myles" seem to think pretty well of the "Weber Copper Recto Cap. Others too I might add.

I used both Tube Rectifiers and Copper Caps. In my spare tube box I no longer carry any Tube Rectifiers, I have two copper caps as they won't break and don't mind a rough ride. The Weber Copper Caps will sag more than other solid state rectifiers, like a real tube. In my experience they are a great product at great price.

I have used one in an old Super Reverb with good results. I was curious to see how they faired in an EL84 amp. I am happy to hear others are content with them.

I buy all my tubes at the tubestore in canada they are very good, fast service. also i use a groove tube ss rectifier in my maz invasion, seems to brighten up the sound alittle bit to my ears anyway, and i also use a weber copper top in my maz 38 senior with good results. the solid state rectifiers are good and reliable tube rectifiers seem very fragile and are suseptable to failure i have had no trouble with ss rectifiers in the last two years. also it's a good idea to keep a spare in your box for emergency.i hope this helped you alittle you must experiment to see which is good for you. good luck george

For new tubes: Doug's Tubes, he's the best. VERY closely matched output tubes everytime. NOS: KCA or Tube Depot. I've had good luck with both so far.

Can you just pop the copper cap in without re-biasing or adjusting?

Actually .... the Weber Copper Cap does behave like a tube rectfier and all other SS rectifiers will not sag at all so to say the Weber will sag more than a SS is a little misleading as standard SS rectifiers don't sag. What sags long before a standard SS rectifier would be the entire amps power supply ... either the power transformer or the filter caps. With the Weber you get sort of all things .... it is reactive to the player's touch but stone cold reliable.
