So what are the odds I'll end up selling my Z-28? Looks like more than a few mid-watt Z's have been up on BST lately.

EZG's getting 90% of the at-home playing time these days, and my Maz studio gets about 100% of the gigs, such as they are. Much as I love the '28, the EZG's a better low-ish volume pedal platform; counter-intuitive, but true. The '28 shines when cranked, but I don't get many opportunities to do that these days. And the Maz studio wins on the portability front. Assuming the therapy is what I think it is, it might be a better fit for me now because it can be both a pedal platform and a straight-in cranker, all at reasonable volume. The EZG's going nowhere--wouldn't want to live without that gorgeous reverb and the big, ballsy authority of those fifty watts, even at lower volumes.

I'd say fairly high- i listed mine right when I ordered my Therapy based on the Doc's & Jakes description. I'm happy. Mine sold yesterday, so feel free to list yours now. Ill add that i love/loved the Z28, but those needs are filled .... plus more now.

The T has all the best bits of the Z28 in there (that I want anyway) plus MUCH more! I may end up trading it for something completely different in the Z range........... hmm. Never thought I'd say that, ever! Yes the Therapy is THAT good, for me anyway

Hmmm. If I sell my '28, there's a Nash Strat I've got my eye on. Either that or maybe a used R7 goldtop. Hmmmm....

What cab are you running it through again, Mark? One Gold! So nice! I have a 2-12 cab with two Creamback M's. I like the single Gold best. I can't wait for your first round of Therapy!

Dang that is and isn't just what I wanted to hear. I'll wait for the first flood waters of used Z28's to abate a bit and then strike. It's up to you first ship jumpers to "sell high" (for the rest of us).

I like the KT-45 for the same reasons you like the EZG-50. I love my Katie with the Z-Verb and a slight bit delay (into a Z-Best 2x12) it's a beautiful thing!

So today was the big day--the Therapy arrived in perfect shape and once I got the box upstairs and wrestled the amp out of the crazy spray-foam packing it was up and running in a matter of seconds. Initial thoughts: Like but don't love it with a Tele--the Maz is still my favorite Tele amp so far, but only because I haven't tried a Wreck, I suspect. Like and maybe could love it with a Strat+OD pedal. LOVE it with LaWonda, my R8, and the Velvet Fuzz--holy moley there's some killer nasty going on there on the bridge pickup, and some sweet, sweet mojo on the neck. Reminds me of the Remedy but without the top-end fizz/sizzle: the highs are sparkly without being over the top, and unlike the Rem the EQ section offers considerable control--running my T around 9:00 tamed it nicely. While the amp's natural tube overdrive is great, I like it best so far as a platform for my favorite pedals--the Velvet and the Jetter GS 124; bet it'd be killer with an OCD, too. With V at about 10:00-11:00, MV and EQ to taste, the Therapy is a great amp for pedal-induced beastliness--it's got some serious upper mid harmonics that the EZG lacks, and top end sparkle you won't find in the Z-28. I'm still not sure if I'm entirely sold yet, will have to give it a few more hours of playing time, but I already think I'd miss those Lester tones if I sent it back.

WOW....congrats...I think..lol I was not expecting these mixed emotions. I loved mine right off the rip and so much so, all I've plugged into it besides guitars straight in, is my KTR and a Super Hard-On for a little boost. Just goes to show ya, one mans dream amp is another mans ho hum... Good luck on your 3 day evaluation.

I have been waiting for more reports from Z-28 peeps. If it is more of a pedal platform amp then it will keep my GAS at bay a little longer. Because I have been thinking about...GULP...selling the Z-28 and replacing it with the Therapy.

I think I'm a little spoiled by the EZG, which is such a big, rich clean platform it's kind of changed the way I think about the guitar/pedlas/amp relationship. The Therapy is very gainy for an "American" style 6L6 amp, but on its own with single coils it doesn't really get into singing sustain territory, which is a sound I've come to enjoy. I like it a lot with humbuckers, straight in, though, and even better than the EZG with a Lester and a good OD/distortion pedal. I'll keep trying, thoug--and the LP tones are good enough to keep it around just for that.

Because I have been thinking about...GULP...selling the Z-28 and replacing it with the Therapy. As a Z28 lover, the Therapy will do both things: a great pedal platform, or a great straight in platform - it depends on where you set the MV / V balance point. It has WAY more than one sweet spot.......... coming from a Z28, the Therapy is like its big brother, with a dose of the best bits of the Remedy thrown in for good measure. I guess if you're coming from the huge cleans of the EZG50 as Jon is, and love that sound, then I could see where the Therapy might not suit - although it does plenty "big" enough for me!! The Therapy definitely sits in the rock end of the spectrum, be that country rock through to pretty heavy rock - if its big clean Tele twang you want, then the Doc makes more appropriate amps IMHO.
